Did the same people in the depot explain how the GS ended up with Subaru foresters?

I wasn't asking. But I'm sure there was a reason. It's not like they were widely issued though.

You all realise this informations primary source is a car dealer. So if you had to assess how good it was?

So silver is the new black then.

I'd imagine the resale value of any police car is pretty low regardless of colour - outlines of the decals, hole in the dashboard ...

    No policy decision made yet

Hopefully there's someone in the depot who thinks this is the future. Excellent decal even for differentiating TC from Regular.

The only reason for the silver ones is down to the fact Toyota couldn't supply enough white ones. Thats from people in the depot.

That's the most rational explanation. Do you know if it's the first time this has happened? I saw what looked like a silver-grey 08/09 traffic Opel estate on the M1 on Saturday.

Which part of the M1. There is a white Vectra estate based in Santry.

It was around Dunleer I think, north of the Boyne bridge anyway. It looked kind of off-white, could well have been white reflective strips on the bodywork giving that impression though.

There is one silver traffic estate insignia floating around I think

    ta-da!

lovely car i'd love to have a go.. we gots the '11 avensis which is pokey, smooth and comfy but dont see it being as hard wearing as the mondeos were...

i'd heard the traffic cars were silver as just another differentiation between them as the chosen ones and us mere mortals

Got a close look inside the New Avensis in Cork West today. How long have you had the PTT button on the wheel?
Simple, but genius. Well done to whoever finally put it in place.

Ah that would be since we got the avensis.

Since tetra we have a hands free type system. In every other car it's a stalk with PTT on top. That's great as it stays in place meaning you can talk and steer a bend and can let go at any stage and you dong have a mic falling all over the place etc.

Seems the new avensis is a pain as you can't talk and turn any sharp corner as you have to let go of the button to rotate the wheel more than half way......if you can follow that

+1 Using that PTT button on anything more than a 90 degree turn surmounts to driving without reasonable consideration and a hilarious radio transmission!

Its better than hanging yourself with the handset...

Not necessarily, left hand radio -right hand wheel is easier than pressing the feckin ptt on the wheel while turning it... I reckon those stalks with the ptt on top of em we got when the tetra came in first were the best option, silly looking but practical

Maybe use a knee-switch? Your legs aren't going to be flailing about too much no matter how wildly you're swinging the steering wheel, and both hands remain fully engaged on the wheel.

    NTM

We don't drive autos like in the states though.....so they would be impractical on manual shift cars as you are moving both legs.

The reason some Garda cars are silver is because the manufacturer didn't have enough white at the time to fulfil the order.

If that is the case, considering white is the most popular car colour in the world. I imagine someone is with out a job with a blunder like that !
