Ospreys won't be an easy encounter. But Munster at home are very very hard to beat (or used to be).

    Should be a cracker.

I'm nearly glad its the Ospreys they're the only top 6 team playing as equally awful(if not more so) as we have the past month

So thoughts on Ospreys next week? 5th meeting between the sides this season.

Ospreys are a mess. Handy win for Munster.

Is his contract not just until the WC or something?

Pretty sure its for the next Super rugby season - a good few of the NZs player have signed something similar.

    Id have Sherry over Fogarty.
I dont think Murray will go to the WC also. ( In fact it would need O Leary Stringer and Murray to go for Williams to be starting SH)

I don't think I clarified what I meant. Thats a team that I'd hate to see Munster play since it contains many players in their mid 20s or older who aren't really good enough to play for Munster in serious games

Odviously I'd prefer to see Jones, Zebo, Barnes, Murray, TOD, POM, Butler, Nagle, Foley, Sherry, Archer and Darragh Hurley get serious game time during the world cup but I'm kinda afraid someone will the team I named above.

Just seen that Leamy incident with the extra 10 from Fri night.
****in hilarious but so stupid from Leamy!

The boys on The Breakdown were pissin themselves, and the look POC gave was priceless!

I'm not sure he was replying to the question that was asked but it was stupid from him especially as he wasnt the captain, there's only one winner when the ref is talking.

The incident itself was poor ly managed by the ref, a few minutes earlier he penalised Quinny for not rolling away and took no action against Muldoon for shoeing, then he penalised Leamy for shoeing when it's obvious that a Connacht player is lying offside and killing the ball.

Academy scrum half Cathal Sheridan is on his way to Edinburgh.

leamy was penalised for unnecessary use of the boot. when he stood on the connacht fella he wasnt near the ball or stopping it coming back.

quinlan was stopping the ball coming back and muldoon, while he tried to get quinlan out of the way, didnt connect in any way the same force as leamy.

unnecessary is the key word here

I admit that I don't know anything about him but his departure can only be good for Munster and for himself since there are so many scrumhalfs around the squad. Maybe he can come back in a few years and take a place or even come back and play for an other province.

Hopefully Edinburgh looks after his development.

Is it not possible that Alan Quinlan will start against Ospreys or has he said that's it? He looked good for the 80 minutes and every bit of Munster guile will be needed to deal with Ospreys. Anybody else think that the Bull had quite a good game again too?

I don't think it was stated that it was Quinlan's last game but in most of the big games recently the starting row was Coghlan, Wallace, Leamy and the media has the idea that it will be the same again

While Quinny and Hayes played well, you have to temper that by consideration of who they were playing. That Connacht team had checked out and only wanted to get through the game without disgracing themselves imo. I think it'd be a mistake to assume the Ospreys will give them such a free ride.

    I wouldn't bet on that.

I would. The Ospreys are only two games away from a trophy, they'll rouse themselves for it and for some reason, both teams really seem to genuinely dislike each other.

Fair enough. I guess I was kinda joking. Still though, if Munster keep their discipline I reckon that even if Munster aren't at their best they are still much better than the Ospreys. I think Munster have more honesty and courage than the Ospreys, who have consistently underperformed. I think the gloom around Munster is misplaced, that Ospreys have real problems, and that Munster are a much better side.

I don't think the ref would have given the penalty if he saw it. He was called back by the touchjudge who suggested the penalty. It was more a case of him not being confident enough to over-ride the TJ and tell him there was nothing in it.

I'll take that bet. The O's have shown no inclination of a rousing at all the past 3 months. If we're a team in decline they're a shambles by comparison. It won't be a walk over because we're playing crap ourselves but the attitude of 70% of the Ospreys players suggests they just want the season over and done with. Low scoring bore fest with Munster to win by 8/9 points.

I find it interesting that PP have Munster and Leinster at the same odds to win the whole thing. Whether that's cause they think a final will be 50/50 or because they think Ospreys have a bigger chance of turning over Munster then Ulster have of turning over Leinster I don't know.

Bradley must know him. Hopefully, it will work out for him.

One of us wrong but I thought Muldoon almost danced on Quinny and Leamy was shoeing simply because the ball was being prevented from coming back.

my reading of what leamy did is that the ball was on its way back and leamy stood/stamped on the guy when he didnt need to. it did nothing for how the ball was presented.

the touchjudge said it was an unnecessary stamp. not an illegal/vicious stamp just that it was unnecessary.

the guy was on the ground and leamy was standing right over when he did it.

quinlan was preventing the ball coming back. he was in the way. the ref signalled that he was giving advantage to connacht because of what quinlan was doing. then muldoon tried to ruck him out of it. very unsuccessfully too. muldoon didnt make a clean connection in his rucking.

there wasnt a huge amount in either but leamy didnt need to do what he did, muldoon did.

the game is up on the rte player. it happened about the 30 min mark or so if you want to check, or just look at poc's look of disbelief at leamy.

its too easy to blame the ref when the players should be held accountable.

Could be wrong but I think he'd have played for Connacht's u20's or u19's when Bradley was Connacht coach.

It would be up to the branch on where to play.

    the Branch of the IRFU...
If the branch wants to cash in on playing in the Aviva Stadium then thats their perogative. They can have a choice of half of Thomond Pk shouting on their team or half of the Aviva.

Is the Magners the same as the HC then, 50/50 allocation?

Can you confirm that the Ospreys had a 9,000 allocation to the RDS last year?

I'll also wager that every time one of these kiss-of-death pre-emptive debates about matches that aren't even on the cards takes place, the team in question ends up losing and not even reaching the subject of debate.

    ?

I think we all know thats is hypothetical at present, but surely we can talk about what might happen?

    EDIT:

Also it strikes me that whatever happens it will be here in Ireland so a decision will be needed, as there would only be two weeks to arrange, surely the relevant people are deciding on their options

Paddy Power must be assuming that the potential final will be a Thomond then because there's no way its a 50/50 shot at Landsdowne.

Actually I don't think bookies ever assume anything they must have confirmation on the final venue

yep, the odds are based on today when we dont know who is in the final

the odds are similar for Munster and Leinster as the bookies think they have the advantage in the semis as they are at home

this does not mean that the bookies will call it 50/50 if it is a Munster/Leinster final

Senior Cup with Earls, so around 23. I haven't seen him much since but I'm pretty sure he was capped by America underage. He played for the Irish Clubs team this year too.

I won't speculate on how good he is because I haven't seen much of him but, he must be playing well to earn an academy place from AIL form. Munster have obviously been looking to the AIL to help solve some of the problems in the front and back rows.
