Bringing this thread back to normality, James Coughlan has tweeted
Sad day thoughts and prayers with Tony, Una and the kids. God bless them and little Sophie
. I have no idea what has happened but I suspect it bad news for the McGahan family.

for the record according to a few posters on Munsterfans Una isn't the name of Tony McGahan or Tony Buckley's wife so I wonder who it refers to

That said it probably refers to a **** situation so I will keep whoever it is in my prayers

Could be Foley, too. Whoever it is it's obviously awful news, hope everyone's ok.

thats a reason why i hate twitter.

it has everyone, me included, fearing the worst.

Look at the position here - bear in mind there are two Boks outside the ball-carrier, and no Lions past Earls. In this shot here you can see that he is fixed by the runner in front of him, he can't drift because it looks like the ball-carrier is heading at Williams. If Earls drifts here and Williams gets involved in the tackle then the player opposite Earls has a walk-in for a try.

As it turns out, the ball-carrier passes without committing Williams, but due to a lack of communication Earls has been fixed.

williams doesnt help the situation here but i dont think earls has seen the spare attacker out on the wing.

every time i watch it he looks like he has picked the guy who is skipped and just focuses on him blindly.

my point though was that earls is accused of losing the game because of this but luke fitz has done the same on 2 occasions this year and just gets away with a "he is out of form" excuse.

no mention of how luke fitz got on in the test games ive noticed?

before im accused of tribalism im a leinster fan

I'm sure JC knows more people that just those involved in Munster Rugby. Buckley's wife is Elaine Collins, former Irish international. Pretty sure TMcG doesn't have a wife named Una. Most likely scenario is that it could be someone JC knows outside of MR, in Dolphin or wherever.

My point about Earls though was that he purely made that tour on hype. No reflection on him now.

Was he not also the leading try scorer in that years Magners League?
Earls is overrated by everyone in Munster except Tony McGahan however.

I think you let yourself down badly with this post. Why did you immediately assume it was McGahan without doing a background check?

Doug Howlett and Keith Earls are among a host of stars who could return to action this weekend when Munster travel to the Liberty Stadium to take on the Ospreys.

Howlett and Earls were named in a 27 strong squad this afternoon after training in CIT along with Ronan O'Gara, David Wallace, Felix Jones and James Coughlan who all sat out the game against Scarlets last weekend.
Munster trained this afternoon in brilliant sunshine in front of a large audience that included a 60 stroong French contingent who are over on tour Gap.

Paul O'Connell was also involved though confined to individual work with Neil Tucker.

    Munster Squad: F Jones, S Deasy, D Howlett, S Zebo, L Mafi, P Warwick, K Earls, D Barnes, R O'Gara, P Stringer, C Murray, M Horan, W du Preez, D Hurley, J Hayes, T Buckley, S Archer, D Varley, M Sherry, I Nagle, D O'Callaghan, D Ryan, A Quinlan, D Wallace, T O'Donnell, N Ronan, J Coughlan.

Good to see POC having some involvement in training again.

I had occasion to meet Sean Fitzpatrick (the rugby legend, not the baxtard who ruined our lives!) the other day at a corporate event and he said Richie mc caw is not coming to Munster, because he is well looked after at home and likes it there. Make of it what you will...

Best hooker of all time. Probably best AB captain and a bloody fine analyst. I'd love to sit down and watch a game with him.

What was he like in person?

Was pushing his charity, he was ok, told a few good stories, told about the all black mentality of winning is everything which was frankly almost scary , his dad was an all black ad still regrets losing to Wales in 1953!

Said lots of nice things about Ireland and Leinster as you'd expect .

Said a bit about the lack of knockout rugby in the SH, we were afraid to ask him if that explains nz underperformance ...

Had a lot of good to say about the HEC for that reason.

I make of it that McCaw isn't coming to Munster. Don't know about anyone else.

Well hes not his agent as far as I know so perhaps he was just speculating like most other people. He might be right, he might be wrong.

    This is a gossip thread.

dont know where your hearing this gossip from.

Guys, Richie McCaw is defintitely 100% certainly joining Munster after the WC. And Conrad Smith too, and Kieran Read, Dan Carter, James O'Connor, Brian Habana, Imanol Harinordoquy, Walter Little, Tim Horan, David Campese, Serge Blanco, Bill Beaumant, Mike Gibson and the ghost of Ian Smith.

    Get your story straight man...
