    Munster start 6-0 down so.

    Worst referee possible!

    Johnny Sexton :D

Sadly Sexton has more Munster connections than most, his father is from Kerry and he used to spend his summers in Listowel. He's a nephew of Willie Sexton, (has a few pubs in Limerick) who played for Munster and Ireland in the 80's.

When I say "sadly" I mean it's a pity he's such a divisive figure in irish rugby.

To the average Munster fan really. Most are of the opinion that he will never be as good as ROG. But, the opinion of him has improved over the 6nations.

Then there are the sections that want him to fail just to prove their point :(

Welsh referee Nigel Owens - who controlled back-to-back Heineken Cup finals in 2008 and 2009 - will signal the start of the European semi-finals weekend when he takes charge of the all-French Amlin Challenge Cup
last four match between Stade Francais Paris and ASM Clermont Auvergne at Stade Charlety on Friday, 29 April.

Owens, who also refereed the 2007 Amlin Challenge Cup final, will be in charge of his 62nd European match while Romain Poite (France) will be refereeing his 41st European match when he is in the middle for Munster's match against Harlequins at Thomond Park a day later.

Both Owens and Poite have been named on the select 10-referee panel for duty at the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

You're joking son. Most fans I know don't like him because he's from Leinster and he's been one of the chief reasons they've kicked our arses for the last 2 years but they'll all begrudgingly admit that he's better then Rog.

We'll be alright with Poite as O'Connell isn't playing. The term 'beat you like a red headed step son' was invented for their special relationship.

Any trouble POC has with Poite he brought on himself. I can't remember which game it was, might have been Northampton in Thomond, when POC just whined and whined at Poite for the entire game and Poite just got fed up. Poite also will happily penalise a crap scrum, which further won't endear him to Munster.

No doubt its his own fault alright. I used to really rate Poite as a scrum ref but the past 18 months he's gone to pot. Every scrum is a penalty or a free kick after the first engagement. No explanation or guidance from Poite who of course has the annoying French/Welsh habit of crouch, paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssuse, engage. Seriously man its not easy for a front row to remain paused with 85 stones of muscle pushing you forward. They'll love him in the SH for the WC though.

No but I'm only talking about fans that I know from Thomond/Mussy or would go watch games with in the pub.

That really pisses me off. It's blatantly obvious that the longer the ref takes the more likely the scrum won't be completed.

You'd think it would be basic common sense! Some refs just love the sound of their own voice though. James Jones is the worst for it. Sounds like he's trying out for choir with his 3 second eeennGGGAAAGGGGeee , twat.

    Munster U20s Continue Preparations
    17 April 2011, 12:36 pm
    By The Editor

The U20s Development squad completed their second challenge game in over a week when they took on an Ulster development side in Naas RFC on Saturday afternoon.

    Share

Match report by Graham Burns U20 Development Challenge Game, Naas RFC, Saturday 16th April 2011
    Ulster 24 Munster 26
In their second warm up game of the season, Munster and Ulster played out a very entertaining match in Naas RFC as both sides continue their preparations for next season's interprovincial series of matches. Munster just shaded Ulster thanks to a touchline conversion from Steve Dinan after a Ben Crumplin try with 2 minutes to go.
Both sides moved the ball at every opportunity, scoring 4 tries each in a game that never had any more than a score between the sides at any stage. Conditions were perfect for running rugby and both sides used the match to put the ball through the hands whenever they could.
Ulster opened brightly and scored after 5 minutes and lead by 7 – 0. However it did not take long for Munster to comeback into the game when Darren Sweetnam (on as a temporary replacement for James Kiernan) scored in the corner with his first time on the ball.
Garret O’Suillebhain missed the conversion to leave the score 7 – 5 to Ulster after 15 mins. However Munster kicked on at this point and scored a second try after Garret O’Suillebhain touched down under the posts after some good play by Shaun Horgan making a break in midfield. O’Suillebhain converted his own try to leave the score 7 – 12.
However just before the break, Ulster exposed some slack defence and scored a try which was converted, making the score 14 – 12 to Ulster at half time.
The second half followed the same pattern, however Munster did enjoy the balance of territory and possession. This advantage eventually told when Shaun Horgan scored after a deft chip from Evan Mulcahy, and after a successful conversion, Munster were in control at 14 -19.
Or at least that was what was thought, as Ulster fought back hard to force turnovers and create scoring opportunities which they took full advantage of. Scoring 2 tries within a matter of minutes meant that Munster were right back in a battle trailing 24 – 19 with 5 minutes remaining.
However when the chips were down Munster, through number 8 Ben Crumplin, responded by scoring a well worked try on the touchline, with Steve Dinan kicking the conversion from a very acute angle to give Munster the two point advantage at the final whistle.
Munster U20s Dev. Squad: Cian O’Donnell, Will Foley, David Canny, Niall Horan, Killian Kingston, Brian Scott, Sean Monaghan, Darren O’Shea (Capt.), Ben Crumplin, Jamie Kind, Cathal Gallagher, Evan Mulcahy, Tim Rafferty, Eamonn Mills, Shane O’Leary, Garrett, O’Suillebhain, James Kiernan, Shaun Horgan, Steve Dinan, Larry Hanley, Darren Sweetnam.
On behalf of the Munster U20 Squad, we would like to pass on our thanks to Naas for orgainising the game and especially for some excellent post match hospitality.

Welcome to the forum. He's a poor 15 so I'd agree with you there. Rog will mis a lot of games next season with the WC and with the player management system so Keatley could get 12+ starts at 10 next season. Haven't seen him play at 12 so can't comment.

Yea I dont like him at 15, I just tink munster are in need of a 12 that will give the outside backs better ball to work with then mafi and I think keatley could do that job

I'd say a quality 12/13 will be signed. Jones is our first choice FB now while Murphy and Deasy can play there so I can't see Keatley getting selected anywhere but 10.

Lot of names being bandied about on Munsterfans. No 'genuine' rumour yet. :pac:

Downey is IQ, he came through the Leinster underage system and had a trial with Munster before going off to play in Italy for a while.

I would like to see Downey come to Munster along with a world class 13. His contract is over at the end of this season.

Indeed, Ciarán. He's Drumcondra born and bred. Has played for 3 provinces and has a couple of A caps. Madness that he hasn't had more opportunity at A level ahead of the likes of Keith Matthews who has picked up twice as many caps at A level.

ACcording to munSterfans the downey rumour is of no more...they referenced a report from the examiner. On the mobile here so can't link unfortunately.
