    Hi,

I have a problem with my Vuo. I updated to Vix 1.3 image last week. Now i can't see my Vuo Duo Drive on my network when using my computer. I can connect ok using Web control and Dreambox edit but i'm stuck as to how i can transfer movies to the Vu hard-drive as was previously just a simple drag and drop.

    Any help appreciated.

Most likely the IP address has changed on then upgrade with the box reverting to DHCP. Check the settings in Setup->System->Network for the currently allocated IP address. The username is root with a blank password on FTP over port 21.

Here is a set of USB DTT tuner drivers for the dreambox,..take note I did'nt manage to get my DTT stick working by just FTP'ing drivers to the dreambox,..only worked for me by using a dreamelite image ver130 or higher as these have the drivers embedded...dreambox_DTT_drivers you will need to unrar first.

Is it possible to skip forward/backward 24hrs in vix epg?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,307 ✭✭✭irishchris

Yes press the button under the mute button on top left of remote while in vix epg and you can select what day you wish to view :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 569 ✭✭✭Gipo3

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,307 ✭✭✭irishchris

Mhmm I have vix1.3 installed and using the VIX EPG, I use the arrows under the buttons and it skips forward / backward 24 hours, the same way Cool EPG did it

Mine does not, also the event name does not appear beside the time.

Are you using the Vix epg or the program guide? i.e. how do you open the "epg"?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 569 ✭✭✭Gipo3

    I press epg?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 377 ✭✭dec2000

...and are you sure your using VIX EPG? Check in Menu - Setup - Vix Menu - Vix Settings and check what EPG button mode is set to.

Maybe someone else can check, but I am definitely using Vix EPG and reflashed tonight and can still confirm that the arrow keys under the numbers 7 and 9 change the day of the EPG ;)

Yeah I can confirm that - it's a bit confusing though as the date on the banner above doesn't change to indicate it.

Definite that its vix epg. Also the event name does not appear beside the scheduled time in info area (top left).

Also, I was recording Top Gear special other day and was cut off before the end. The guide had it down for right time and duration but missing some at the end of recording. It was repeated on bbc hd today and same thing happened. Everything else I recorded has been fine.

Yeh the only indication is the orange name with the day on the top left, over the channel names.

Gipo3 - based on what your saying, I'm guessing you have the picture showing in the epg? Have you changed any other settings? Sounds like you probably don't have the correct settings on your epg sources if your not seeing the descriptions, probably not downloading 7 days which is why you can't scroll through the days...just a guess.

I get the descriptions of the event, but not the title beside the time.
And I also have picture showing in box.

Edit: Following latest updates tonight I get the event name now beside time. However, still cannot use arrow right/left to go forward/backward 24hrs.

Sorry for going a bit off topic but, can anyone tell me if the Vu+ with VIX ver 1.3 (or any version) can read a Sky Card?

    Thanks in advance!:)

Ielekltronics have emailed me a €100 discount code for the VU+ Duo - anyone who wants it is free to use it. The original price is €450, with discount €350, and with postage+paypal costs brings it to just about €400.

This box is interesting, however looking at various YT videos of its zap speed it still seems sluggish.

How quick it this box to change channels? I mean from full synced audio and motion to full synced audio and motion?

Why are all these boxes so sluggish at this task? Surely there is a simple fix called buffering? If I'm on channel 9, then it's fair to assume that chan 8 and 10 need 2-3 secs buffering perhaps on a very cheap dedicated ram chip???

I zap all the time and my Edision Argus VIP2 SICKENS!!!! the bejesus out of me when it comes to changing channels. Takes 3-4 seconds. The picture changes, then it stops, judders and syncs with audio for a couple of seconds before it finally plays smooth. Just bloody awful - in this day and age.

with vu+ it depends on what image and skin you are using, I use vix 1.3 with default skin and i can honestly say changing channels is lightning fast.

I notice the mad price people have been paying for the sundtek dtt sticks.

Anyone using the AverMedia AVerTV Digi Volar X HD stick. Its listed on ielektroniks site as working with the VU+duo. Its €26.

    http://www.ielektroniks.com/avermedia-avertv-volar-black-hd.html

Is it supported in Vix image ? Does it matter if it is supported by manufacturer anyway ?

That sounds software related. Firmware ?

Nah it seems to be a thing with HD STB's IMO, I am always on latest FW. Zapping channels should be instant like it was in analog systems. INSTANT! Even if you look at the specs of these new stb's, they quote 2-3 seconds channel changing times. VERY ANNOYING and a usability disaster.

Sorry for all the shouting, its just so annoying to me, one of my pet hates not to mention the sluggish so called now and next EPG that does not work!

I'm all but ready to buy this box, can someone tell me if/how well the rte player works on this box?

I use archlinux on my laptop, and cannot get it to run full screen.

sundtek is the only dtt stick supported in vix 1.3, they hope to add more in 1.4.
