    Railway film on track for weekend premiere

    TWO years’ work will culminate on Friday, December 3, when the world premiere of The 3:10 To Claremorris is screened in St Brigid’s Hall in Tubbercurry. Produced by Laighne Films, a Tubbercurry- based film company, The 3:10 To Claremorris was written and directed by Tom Walsh. It is best described as a modern-day comedy western and aptly set in the West of Ireland.

    The film storyline centres around the efforts of a local committee to reconstruct the old railway line from Collooney to Claremorris. However, due to the economic downturn no help or funding is forthcoming from the powersthat- be ‘back east’ so they enlist the help of seven dynamic individuals who ride into town and get things up and running.

    However, everything does not go according to plan and soon ‘The Dynamic Seven’ realise that their efforts are being thwarted, with some hilarious results.

    Filming commenced in June 2009 and continued over a 12-month period in various locations around South Sligo including Tubbercurry, Aclare, Lough Talt, Cloonacool, Collooney, Coolaney, Ballymote, Carrowkeel and Buninadden, as well as Sligo town, Ballaghaderreen and Claremorris.

    Great Trailer?

    It was shockingly bad. The production values ruin a concept that actually has some potential in terms of a story.
