Can I ask why so many people on the weather forum want snow? What's the fascination with it?

The last snowfall made me very cold, stranded me at airports, made it dangerous to get to work and cost me hundreds of euro in missed work hours, flight changes, etc.

I'm due to fly to England again this weekend so I for on hope not a flake of snow falls in either country.

It's a bit like an angler wanting to catch that elusive monster fish. Is that really that hard to fathom? Weather forum = people fascinated by the weather???

Weather enthusiasts love extremes be it heavy rain, strong winds, freezing conditions, snow, hail or heat. If you're not a weather nut it's hard to explain. Some people like to watch 30 men chase a egg around a pitch (I believe they call it rugby). It's just each to their own interests.
Anyway as we all know the Mother Nature will do what she pleases regardless of what weather anybody wishes for.

Fair enough. I too enjoy some etremes of weather, in fact I'd love to go Tornado chasing at some stage in my life. But unfortunately with snow it's fun for a few minutes and then cold, wet, icy and slushy for the rest of the time! :D

Temsp dropped here to 6.8c - quite windy.

Some just are enthused by the weather as their work is dependent on it.

Farming and fishing probably the two most dependent on weather.

    You must be in Arderin

    Surely not snow in Laois?

The front hasn't reached most of Ireland yet temperatures would be too high surely.

Lads it aint over, this is just one run and the Corkonians would get a a nice 5-15cm of snow from the NAE 6z run!

    For the Corkonians.

The rain has stopped in Galway (parkmore). It brightened up for a short while (maybe 30 mins) and now it is getting dark.

    Some dark clouds out there.

The excelent Tomaz Shafanaker is on duty on BBC news 24 now and has done a very good and informative forecast just now.
Highlights include the obvious pasting of ulster and Connaught but also clare and Kerry and wait for it most of Cork including the City.
By Saturday, his graphics showed snow over the East of the country
Everything everywhere would be falling as snow he said.

so he has been reinstated by popular demand??

did you see the report he did from Scotland during the last cold period? he revealed his snow colours in the report:D
