think it might take me a while to get to grips with calling the teachers by their first names though!

Wait and see how they introduce themselves, not all teachers do this.

The PLCs strictly speaking are VEC schools, so they run to the school calendar. The gap between registration and induction is to allow for interviewing of the last round of candidates and organising them to come in, staff training, department meetings, timetabling, room and supplies preparation (for practical classes), some special activities, such as introductory courses for some classes and numerous other details that have to be arranged for the very wide range of classes involved in PLC.

Don't panic, just turn up, you will be given all the information you need when you start.

Everyone else will feel worried too. I haven't got my timetable yet either, and I'm starting next week, so I assume that because I don't have it no one else does either. And even if they do, I'm sure I'll get it on the day.

Many of the teachers in our place don't have their final timetable yet:rolleyes:. Why would you be worrying? You have your place, just turn up with a refill pad, pen and anything else they asked you to bring.

Really, don't worry about it! I did a PLC last year and it took me about a week and a half within starting before I got my timetable. Just bring a pen and paper in and you'll be slowly eased into the course. With the PLC, it's much more relaxed than school so you'll have a great year where there's plenty of fun to be had. It will also allow you to mature a lot too.

In hindsight, I'm glad I didn't get into college last year and did the PLC course instead. I don't think I would have been able to deal with the overwhelming nature of college back then and the PLC gave me a generally relaxed year after the hectic Leaving Cert! If you keep on top of the work this year, you'll have no problem getting into college next year and you won't stress yourself out too much either!:D

Every course is run differently but you will probably have your induction on the first day of the course. They will just introduce the tutors, outline the course content and probably show you around. Just turn up with your refill pad on the day and stop worrying!

yea i got in.i kinda new i would tho.well say no more.
have the induction on the 15 sept at 12 till 1.30.have to bring money for paper 50 euro and art and craft 50euro.the thing thats pissing me off is that it says on that lettet that theres no parking on the premises which is balls.and they have a barricade up at chadwicks old building so u cant park in there either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 248 ✭✭TomJoe Wallace

    Hahah.. Same with myself..
We have the exact same letter I'm guessing so :P..

I'll see you there my man!

And as for the parking. I don't drive so lucky me :P But you can park down at Tesco Car park for like and 1 and a half I think for free and you don't need proof that you bought anything and it's literally just down the road from the College.
