The original series is been shown on Sky 148 at twelve midday and repeated Sunday morning (was this sunday anyway).

Only copped it today, first time to see a full episode in it's remastered format and it looked mighty good.

Yeah they did a good job on them alright. I don't think they got around to remastering all the original episodes though...

they are shown quite often on CBS Action (freeview) the stunt doubles are very noticeable due to the higher quality, fantastic results none the less.

All of them have been remastered in 1080p HD. All three TOS seasons are now out on Blu-ray (in the US at least, season 3 came out last week).

They look incredible. The DVD release of TNG compared with the VHS was a small improvement, but the difference with these Blu-ray TOS is unbelievable. Can't recommend it enough if you have a Blu-ray player & HDTV. I think channel 148 is just the standard definition version of the new HD versions.

TNG is meant to be much more difficult to release in HD, there's a good post here about it: http://www.dvdtown.com/messageboard/topic/8274/3/0

Yea they do look brilliant the bluray sets are super expensive but there kinda of worth it as you get the esp in HD with both the old and new efforts , in fact i think i read you can toggle between them while watching ! surely the best of both worlds ( see what i did there lol)

    Very true.
    Still highly entertaining IMHO

Its great to see TOS again, though I prefer the old effects, the atmosphere of the era is disrupted to some extent by the cg, it like becoming absorbed in the 60s universe only to be pulled out of it every so often by modern effects.

Noticed this too. Every time I see it, it's when there's FX in the scene (usually a phaser firing, the transporter being used, or the scene fading into another one).

Clearly something to do with how they added the effects (maybe the results were recorded onto something inferior to 35mm, so they don't look as good as the untouched 35mm live action shots)
