In religion we were doing something about role models and we were asked who peoples were. I said John and Edward :P Coz they took so much abuse and came back back each week with little grins. We may be doing a poster thing about them for the class, coz I proved my point so well :)

It may be sad but my week revolves around it! I'm completly obsessed it's just sucha panto - makes for such great telly :D
(and of course Lloyd is fit as f*** he's good eye candy even if I do have to put the telly on mute while he's singing :p)

Just looked at my first coment here, that really changed I did become arguably obsessed with the thing...

And the thing about Rage against the Machine, aren't they signed to Epic? And Epic is a part of Sony and Simon Cowell is very important in that company. So people who buy the song just to piss off Cowell, well they're still buying a single that hes part of. Not sure if what I wrote makes sense, imping in a hurry...

But from what I heard yesterday Joe's "he Climb" is second to it by a decent bit, possibly changed by today though.

Its not about making Sony lose money, its about saying a big fuck off the norm and just accepting what Simon Cowell and co. shove down our throats.

    God damn hippie.

I think it's fantastic though. Regardless of the anti-X-factor aspect, having that song go down in history as the Christmas number 1 of 2009 is too amazing for words.

Also, regardful of the anti-X-factor aspect, f*ck yeah! Never got the attraction of those sweeping, fauz emotional "winner" songs (with the classic standing-there-singing-and show-some-clips-from-the-show-every-now-and-then video) that they throw at us every year... I bet there's a key change at the end that coincides with a clip of the dude winning/crying.

    Same old, same old.

I've heard that song all of once and I'm sick of it. But it doesn't matter how crap it is, it will still get Christmas number one because people like what Simon Cowell tells them to like. Am I the only one who thinks the x factor is a load of balls?

EDIT-Just read the posts above me......Rage Against the Machine FTW!

And Killing in The Name of will get to number 2 (possibly 1) because a facebook group told people to buy it. It's also barely better than The Climb. People could have at least chosen a decent and christmassy song like Bob Dylans version of Must Be Santa.

Do you not see how it is the perfect song for it though!?

Yes it's the perfect song to illustrate that the pop charts aren't solely controlled by 13 year old girls....

13 year old boys also have a considerable influence.

Regardless of song quality it's the polar opposite of the X-Factor, but popular enough and well known enough for people to buy it. Even X Factor haters wont buy Cannibal Corpse or Emperor...

This is okay, but I'll post anyway
subtitiles are fairly NSFW, but they're only subtitles.

Why does anyone care about the charts? Hardly makes a difference, bar that one time where the ever so depressing Mad World knocked The DArkness Christmas TIme off the charts, that was painfull.

I think it's a challenge to see if it's possible more than anything else. Oh and I love this

It's not really the polar oppossite of the X-Factor though is it? RATM's music is just as commercialised as any pop singer. I'm not against commercial music at all (I enjoy the X-Factor after all!) but if people don't like the music in the charts they should really just ignore it tbh.

I'm not going to post them, but the two songs are fairly different from a musical and genre standpoint!

Well I could argue that. They're both simple, repetitive songs that are catchy. They're similar in structure too.

Though it is very impressive that it's even pushing The Climb for the number 1 spot. Lol maybe fifa will take the facebook petition over the Henry handball a little more seriously now.:pac:

I'll keep the thread open until the Christmas number 1 has been announced. At that point I'll probably lock it, but KnifeWRENCH or Piste could re-open it at any time if they wish.
