Best wishes to all Emergency Services personnel working this weekend, by all reports it will be a difficult one. For a change I am not working this year. Stay safe and look out for each other.

We're all counting on you (to bring in lots of indictable crime)

Justice, security and safety really. If it's indictable but probably will be tried summarily forget about it.

The rain should keep the scambags in doors.

    They don't like getting clean.

great planning as always. Call local authorities and let them know where wood is stockpiled, then they will remove it ...their respons... "sorry no ones working tonight"

    Embarassing

They'd have to ring Brian Lenihan to sanction the overtime. He probably done a cost benifet anaylsis and it was cheaper to let them burn it than pay someone to shift it.

Come on man!!! Put the country first

Glad to hear today that last night was not as bad as expected. I think every Garda's and Firefighter's prayers were answered by the weather !!! Could we have a monsoon every year.

The other noticeable difference this year was a marked decrease in Firework activity.

I wonder was this subsequent to increased Customs seizures or intercepting the stuff on the streets ?

Why we can`t organize the type of Public Fireworks that we all find so spectacular in France,Italy or Spain instead of allowing oul criminal shawlies to turn a quick buck out of peddling the stuff is beyond me !

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

That would require some money, organisation, volunteers and community spirit. This isn't the early 1990's, you know!
