Collected my car today!!! At last!!! She's a beauty. WAAAAAAAAY more powerful than the Micra!! And I was(and still am)amazed at how big the cabin is! The car looks quite small from the outside, but this is quite deceiving. There is loads of space in it - which I need for lifting my wheelchair in and out.

I have a totally different driving position than I did in the Micra too - I feel much closer to the steering wheel.

The Fiesta also has Durashift transmission, which I've heard of, but never actually experienced. It's pretty cool, and will take a bit of getting used to. I'll really feel the power of it when/if I take her out on the M50 or a straight road. Once again, thanks for all your suggestions/tips.

Seems like no time since you ordered it!

If you ease back on the accelarator a little when the car is changing up a gear, it makes the changes much smoother, full throttle upchanges don't work too smoothly on this type of gearbox. you'll do intuitively after a while.
what's great about the Durashift EST is that you don't lose any power through the gearbox compared to a normal auto box, so no wonder it feels nippy after the Micra!

The Micra is a f**king SHOPPING TROLLEY compared to this thing!!?? It really has some power in it. My Dad had a go in it earlier - he's a named driver on my insurance policy - and he couldn't believe how nippy the car was. And while he was pulling up outside our house earlier, he accidentally scraped one of the front wheels against the kerb - now there is a horrible f**king SCRAPE on my hubcap!

Hi guys - OP here again.

I'm gonna go for the VW Golf 1.4l DSG TSI next year guys!!! I've had a look at a few and they're f**kin gorgeous!! I can't believe it's nearly 2 years since I bought the Fiesta!!??

Should've taken the advice I was given a year ago! I have the inside of the Fiesta absolutely DESTROYED with the wheelchair. I've been told that the Golf is a lot more roomier than the Fiesta - is this true? Also, do all VW Golf's have that little armrest in the centre(between the two front seats)? If so, it would be very difficult for me to lift my chair on/off the passenger seat!

the Golf is roomier than the fiesta, from what ive seen.

Dont forget the golden rule......we want PICS :)

 I've just used the "build your model" feature on the Park Motors website, and the final price of the VW Golf after I have added things that I want comes to nearly 30k!!!!!!

I wonder how much I could get for a 2 year old Ford Fiesta Automatic to help bring the price down a bit???

I've tried to use the "configure" button on the Seat website, but I can't get past the basic model??

I've had a spin in that car. They've put FR bumpers on it and 17 inch alloys. But strangely a Cupra sign on the back:rolleyes:

Nice car for the money - extra's are a good €1.5-2k if you wanted to do it yourself.

The seat configurator is crap by the way. They come with a lot of extras as it is. On it, once you decide on your model, navigation of it is all done on the right hand side of the page

    Hey MM

I got a brand new VW Scirocco from Park Motors this yr. I got it adapted by Mobility Ireland (who do that kind of work for Park Motors) VW are expensive but they are great I have to say. To be honest the Scirocco isnt the greatest for having a wheelchair though. But I do have the DSG which is brilliant. I think the Golf GT comes with cruise control which is handy and get the light and vision pack(rain sensing wipers and auto lights!).

This is my second car I bought under the disabled drivers scheme. PM me if you have any questions or want to know the guy I delt with in Park Motors.

Both Park Motors and Mobility Ireland were fantastic to deal with. I will be going back to them again.

I hear there is a meeting in VW today (or maybe next week depending on source) regarding a new pricing structure. Keep an eye on boards and someone will probably link to new (should be a good bit cheaper) pricing from VW. Will probably take a while to update the configurator though.

I've just been out in a Comfortline DSG 2.0Tdi and that had an Armrest between the seats. I can't remember if the Trendline does or not - but that don't do a DSG version of that so that model is out.

Cracking car to drive in Petrol or Diesel - the DSG box is fantastic. I delivered a 1.4Tsi 160bhp DSG Highline to a customer last month. Very nice car to drive an plenty of poke, but I must say I prefer the 2.0Tdi for power delivery through the DSG. With the current price difference between the 2 it's probably not worth the extra for the Diesel unless you are doing big miles - the Petrol is €156 to tax for a year but the Diesel is €302.

I'd definately have a look at the Opel if they do an Auto at a reasonable price. It was launched to the press in Germany last week so we should start to see details fairly shortly so they can get orders for next year.

AFAIK, the GT model only comes in a 4 door model....? I could be mixing it up with the Comfortline model, though......?

GT is a MKV spec which is now no longer available (unless some in stock - unlikely any DSG models).

MKVI Golf comes in Trendline, Comfortline and Highline Specification. DSG comes with either Comfortline or Highline.

I am pretty sure they do a 3 door GT. The old model GT had a 3 door. The new model GT isnt out yet but GTi and GTD have 5 and 3 door. So the GT should be in 3 door.

Comfortline, trendline are the spec levels. Some have bigger alloys and more gadgets and stuff. I dont think any Golf comes with an armrest as standard. Its an extra which you dont have to get!

Would you think of getting a GTi? Savage car.

Nice car. I actually sat in it and was tempted :D

Current Golf is Trendline, Comfortline and Highline with the GTi/D above those.

Armrests are on Comfortline and above with the Mk6, optional on Trendline

This one is priced at 24k for the basic 3 door model. AFAIK, this is the cheapest model in 3 door and DSG....?

I'm getting some slagging from friends for choosing this car. Apparently, it's a bit of an animal?? Are they right? Should I downgrade my choice a wee bit?

If your friends think a base model Golf with 122bhp is a bit of an Animal, you need new friends!

It's nippy, but I wouldn't go much further than that. The 160bhp version is pretty quick, but still more pussy cat than tiger.
