Today I saw tootyflutty going into JH1 after my lecture and underbadger(I think) crossing the bridge. Neither of them seemed to recognise me. :/

I saw no one today... because I didn't go in to college. I'll keep my eyes peeled for you guys though! And then call you by your username because I can't remember any of your names... :o

I don't remember any names from last night apart from the ones I know already. The rest will be known as "Donegal chap" 1 to 3.

I seen Beau today in the Roost. At least I think that's who it was. He was there last night. I actually think this thread is a bit silly. Anyone?

I saw you too, tried to catch your eye but you were enjoying your food. Yeh its a little silly.

Have anyone seen me? I'm doing finance and economics:)

Wearing a black jacket, and wearing it all the time;) Also tend to be the only one in the lecture theatre with a laptop (never seen anyone else).

I'd like to meet JP, purely for his remarkable contibution to the Google Apps Cause on Facebook.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,095 ✭✭✭Beau

You missed out, he's a ride.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 490 ✭✭Wendero

Aww, thanks for the compliment beau...

... is this a bad moment to confess that I just accidentally forgot to ask something? :P

Just kidding, it's actually easy to get answers to most questions without the internet, now that I'm in maynooth. And, you know... some things you are better off not knowing, and so you shouldn't ask about them;)

Anyway, it could actually be interesting to see you too. First post you write to me that doesn't include some comment about how much I ask:P That's almost worth celebrating:P

Spot on, nothing like that fresh first time in a new place, full of wonder.

How are you getting on anyway? Has it lived up to your expectations? Any problems that your meticulous planning didn't foresee?

"Meticolous planning didn't foresee"? Like if that could ever happen... :)

Well, okay, it could and did happen:
    1) outrageous amount you have to pay just to wash and dry you clothes
    2) Impossible to find Lidl (don't ask me why I want to find it, it's just so irritating that I can't)
    3) Food doesn't last very long - that's one of the worst things with this place. Ham that lasts 2 days? You must be kidding me;)
    4) Lecturers who can't spell the word "objective" - well, I did partly expect it, but I didn't expect them to be so rude when you point it out to them that they are biased.
    5) Really expensive books. Should have checked it up. Now, I got money of course, but I still got surprised by the costs.
    6) Happy surprise: The thing with River having thin walls is greatly exaggerated. It's alright. Maybe you people are more sensitive for cold.
    7) Surprisingly nice people. Yeah, everyone had told me that people here are friendly, but everyone tends to be friendly to everyone except me, back where I come from;) So it's quite a surprise how nice and spontaneous (spelling is wrong, I know) everyone is.
    8) I really thought I was gonna shape up and get my room in order quite quickly (despite the fact that my room at home was always in a mess). Well, it's still a mess. But I'll fix it tomorrow. Or... maybe sunday :P

But yes, it's lived up to my expectations. I'm happy to be here, don't regret it at all. Everyone I know back in Sweden is jealous with me, they still have one year left of high school (I did a course overload so graduated earlier). And the weather has been much better than expected as well.

Glad to hear it man, couldn't be easy coming over from a different country like you are doing. Hope things keep going the way they are for ya! +1 on the washing your clothes thing, can't believe that hasn't been sorted yet.

By the way, (and since you cleverly asked it indirectly ;)) Lidl is way up beside the motorway. You'd really need a car or live up there to get to it and come back. On the books thing, don't bother buying them. Especially in first year! The Library will have them no bother.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 490 ✭✭Wendero

Wow, I didn't even think of asking about Lidl indirectly. Very well, I did it again;) Motorway doesn't sound fun:( We have lidl in Sweden, so I thought it could be fun to see if it's the same (like, if they have something that lasts for more than two days... I'd begin to dance out of joy if I saw ham that lasted reasonably long).

It's not easy to move, no, but honestly it would have been harder to keep up with Sweden and the Swedish people (for whom I lost respect for many years ago) in the long run. Had to do something radical.

It's not hard to wash, just expensive:( I wish I didn't have so many white clothes which has to be washed separately. I even told my mum today when I talked to her not to buy any white clothes to me for christmas. If she do, I'll send her the bill for the washing costs;)

Also no-one knows what Ice hockey is in Ireland. I got so freaking frustrated that I actually explained the whole thing to a group of people, and I also explained that I happen to be from the same town as one of the best ice hockey players in the world. I don't know if they understood anything, and to be fair, I don't understand hurling either. So I guess we're even;)

    /John
