    Hi,

Does anyone know if u take up a FAS course (6wks) do FAS take over your Lone Parents payment and you don't get the training allowance. OR Can you get the Training Allowance (€200)along with reduced Lone Parents Allowance?

Rang the local FAS office and have gotten two different answers... don't know seem to know.

    Thanks

You get your Training Allowance from FAS. You need to notify your social welfare office that you are getting this allowance, and then they will access this allowance as means, and it may reduce your one parent family payment. shouldn't decrease it by too much more though
