    Nah, they're recordings off E4.

I've not heard that much electro-indie/nu rave stuff on it so far, besides that remix of that The Gossip song, moreso hip hop stuff really.

The week before last there was a good Bat for Lashes song at a very suitable moment in the episode, it reminded me I hadn't listened to them in ages.

IN fairness, the show could do with a bit more westlife.;)

Are you watching a DVD rip of it?

The dvds have a different soundtrack to the originally broadcast episodes, Im not a huge fan of the nu rave indie shíte, but it suited the show at the time.

ya i was really pisht about that... the music they put on teh dvds were just wrong!!! ****

Well I just finished watching Season 1 (you can tell I'm studying hard), and I'm kinda meh about it tbh. Some good stuff, but ultimately the whole thing felt a bit OTT, manufactured etc.

    nah it's brilliant

I've never seen the show. I'm refusing to watch it though, because every second person I come across feels the need to tell me how awesome last night's episode was and that I have to watch it and so forth.

Maybe it's a good show, but I hate these shows that everybody insists is the best thing ever, and that I have to watch it or I'll die.

    Your reasoning is flawless

    Cheers mate.

I absolutely hate that programme. I wonder how anybody can even stand listening to their accents.

It's too bad a shíteload of 13 year olds are going to assume that this shíte is a real depiction of teenage life. It'll be even worse when they start taking off the accents.

I watched the repeat of this week's episode last night for delicious Rich Fulcher... he was brilliant but jaysus this series is boring. Worth the watch for Rich though, classic :D

I liked the first two series, and I like this one too. It feels quite complete. If it feels artificial, it's because it's not meant to be representative of life, more a mad, dramatic fantasy, ugly at times and idyllic at others. I think it's done quite well though, and is still being done well. I'm enjoying the third series so far and don't think the new characters have let things slip either.

chris, well, ive a good mate quite like chris, and chris as a character, was always just a nice guy.... my favourite line of his has got to be everyone sitting on the couch in the pub or somewhere, and going over what a complete disaster life has been for everyone, and he's just staring at his pint glass.. "the bubbles go up, up and up and then *makes popping noise/motion*". brilliiant!

Chris was DEADLY! :D I think his best quote was "I smile a lot. And people smile back. It's kind of contagious, like a lovely sort of gonorrhea" Classic! :L

Love the programme. People take it way too serious though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3 Jen_Starrs

Yeah that's true.. Like the new series is good but it's an exaggerated perception of teenagers.. Not many teenagers get away with drinking in a pub then getting some coke off their uncles or find secret rooms containing home porn vids of their best mate's mum..lol Now correct me if I'm wrong but I think that's too 'good' to be true lol

You should really bare in mind it is just a tv show though. I don't think they're aiming for it to be 100% true to life.

The car crash in episode one of the new series!

i'm in my thirties and adore Skins (in my defence I also love shameless also).

I think it is a little bit truer to life than people care to admit. About 75% of what is done in that programme I have done, maybe not in my late teens but definitely by early 20s. For me its like looking back on my own past, very surreal feeling sometimes. Does this happen for anyone else watching the show.

I think it's the age at which they're doing all these things which makes it not true to life, at least in relation to Irish culture, but perhaps it's different in England. Their behaviour would be more typical of 18-25 year olds IME.

That said, I'd say most 16/17 year olds would experience some of what goes on in it at some stage, but with nowhere near the independence or frequency of the Skins characters.

It was hard to get MDMA or good coke in Leitrim when I was in school!:p

What I learnt from this show is to be a confident arrogant lad and all the girls will sleep with you!Score.

actually i did love the last episode where
it was perfectly ok with cook that naomi didn't wnat to sleep with him... he has these moments every now and then where he really is just a nice guy
. and while i didnt have cook pegged as a 'real character' sort of thing at the start of the show, watching it now, he does really really remind me of this dude i went to school with. y'no, a characatured version, but still.

I thought the last episode was brilliant (A departure for this season).

Although the election "Sub-Plot" was a bit tedious.

Does anyone else LOVE the lesbian twin's voice? (Something about it is just amazing, I dunno why)

    This season is improving.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,196 ✭✭✭Crumble Froo

yes. i love the lesbian twin's voice, and yeah, this last episode is very much on a par with the last two series. it had the serious level and the silly level, i loved it. and yep, emily's voice is awesome, actually, her in general is awesome.

though im still waiting for my effy and freddy relationship to happen and work. ive decided they're my new sid and cassie.

naomi and emily can be my new chris and jal.
