Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    I dunno, i am on bebo and facebook i never use bebo much. I actually want to create a social networking/cms for students... So this is an interesting read-it would be based on php and sql, someone mentioned i should use joomla... Ideas would be much appreciated :D

    Then it'd be quite cool if you could give grinds in a subject you are good at for grinds in something other people are good at , like a credit system if you wish . It would avoid big costs of getting them and with participation everyone could learn a little.

    Secondly it think it could be good to have a place to organise meet ups for like minded people, like people who want to start bands in uni etc.

    May go into more detail but if you could do that it has a lot of potential.

    And if you do make me admin:P

    To be honest it would be a social network site(like facebook) but would be focused on students in Ireland...
    Still thinking, downloading and installing joomla as we speak..
    This is my new baby, all suggestions would be appreciated...

    I'm a girl and I'll admit that we, as a collective gender group, have ruined bebo. Completely and utterly.
    Those stupid quizzes irritate me so very much!

    Bebo's a bit crap tbh. I set up my page in 2005 (Eugh, how SAD is that?) but closed it down completely a few months ago. I got so sick of it all... the popularity battle, the fact that someone else was reading every conversation you were having, everything.

    However, I caved in under pressure and set up a new one. A very minimilistic one.. none of this "What kind of guy is meant for you?", "What kind of drunk are you?", "Are You a Good Kisser?" ****e.
    Because these are just the kind of things the internet shouldn't be able to tell me!

    As for facebook, I set up a page to keep in touch with my friend who went to Uni in England- she doesn't use msn/ bebo and it's far too expensive to text her. Meh. I don't like it much wither tbh.

    Bebo used to be great back in the day, used it all the time up til I discovered boards basically. Then I discovered the big wide world of intelligent people on the internet.

    I've only joined facebook cos my sister is in Germany this year and keeps us updated with it. Use it for invites to friends concerts and parties but most of my actual friends on facebook are boardsies. :)

    Bebo is chock full of retards who don't know the difference between upper and lower case.

    I always thought bebo was SPAM central! I get loads of porn spams so never bothered with it, most of my friends on bebo are not on facebook-plus hopefully i get my own social network finished soon :D

    boards is so cool-am addicted! Made so many friends here :)

    Nah, bebo is actually great for meeting women, I pretty much constantly get private messages from really hot girls who think I are a fun guy, and interesting too.

    i started using a mobile "social" network, group texting with replies for all. not bad, had to pay. maybe they can change the model. private to the group, my mates and i are using it quiet a bit.

    interface a bit naff, need to improve registration etc. good idea though...

    personally? I hate the goddamn things. What a waste of time! There are two kinds of users.....

    1. The kind that has it for the sake of having it, and really shouldnt seeing as they never bother to log on.

    2. The kind that cant go a day....or a few hours without checking their comments.

    Does anyone remember email?!?!

    Seriously....I have a Facebook, Myspace AND bebo.

    I got the Myspace and facebook purely so I could view some friends photos. I never used the myspace. I got the bebo while travelling one summer because people are too lazy to keep in touch through a quick email. Instead they spend 4 hours straight commenting on a social networking site??
    I got the facebook for photos....and kept it because everyone ditched bebo and move to facebook, so I need it when I'm away from home.

    Seriously...I'll give a cookied to the next person I meet that actually uses email on a regular basis.

    Yeah that would be me. Went on bebo a lot for the first few weeks then got bored of it and haven't really been on it at all since then except to decline friend requests from random people.

    that is because you are young. and have proven my point.

    young people stick to social networking sites, and have email addresses for the sole purpose of signing up with forums, social netoworking sites etc.

    young people dont use real email anymore.

    and you wonder WHY all you get is spam....

    I am nowhere near young anymore, but i really like facebook. I can keep in touch with people I would never really email. I have practically left my bebo, just left my email on it for contact.
    Myspace is really only for music heads, really don't like it. just can't get the hang of it at all.
    Family are the only people who keep in contact with me via email.

    I convinced my closest friends (along with myself obviously) to all just delete our bebos in one swift movement. While at first I was kinda apprehensive about losing contact with some people and losing old photos and all that... don't miss it in the slightest. It got to the stage where it was adding unnecessary drama to life. Going from "Why did he move me down in his top friends" to "he can't have me in his top friends" is a nice change!
