    Cant bloody believe it

A day after I had my notice in they offer me a promotion.

I applied for it back in October incase this PSNI thing did not work. This is the best 2 weeks ever.

I would never take it, could not let my squad down now, feels good to be wanted though:D:D

a friend of mine (kindly?) mapped out a 5k route for me and we did it last night. It actually was better than I thought it would be, saying that the legs are killing today. Not 6 feet under yet though, so all good. Upping the weights as well, as Im worried about this push pull thing. Have heard its set at some ridiculously tall height?

The push-pull's set at 5ft 10. Do plenty of "man" push-ups and you should be grand. :D

Can't remember the last time I ran anywhere near 5k. I could do it over the course of a football game, but that's stop start running. Not at a continuous pace.

We can always get you the yellow pages to stand on! Did you get your run done inside 30mins? I'm still putting the return to the gym off. running out of excuses!

Try 2 sets of yellow pages  Managed it in 36 mins, so Im gonna have to get out at least 3 times a week to work on it. Its alright for you tall ones with your long legs, it'll be a walk in the park (literally :p)

Congratulations and welcome to the boards.

Have you got your information pack yet. A lot of the things you'll need to sort out are listed in there. Also, there's a lot of useful information in the Starting in Garnerville soon thread.

Cheers Carlty- Yes i got the pack and sent back my acceptance. Great to see everyone else is in the same boat and is as excited as me. I don't know what i'd do without these posts tho. I'm barely able to think with the anticipation, i've not told work yet so i've to keep it to myself. Have to go buy a new tin o fruit tomorrow for the Induction. As for the fitness i don't think i've ever run 5km . least not in one go! better run twice as hard in footie later. Anyone else from the South in this intake?

you get to pick 3 or 4 of your preferred districts and they give you an opportunity to explain why you should not be sent to the other end of the country, so if you have young children at school or elderly relatives dependant on you for care these give you a good chance of getting within 20 - 30 miles from home, i am not so sure if you cant have your home district I know a few people who are stationed in their home district but they transferred after finishing probationery period.

sony - you could end up in your own district. Thing is, you most likely wont end up in your own town. I ended up gettin the district I live in .

Oh and your personal situation dosent seem to matter. I put down variou issues including being th eonly person being able to look after my elderly parents...guess what - 43 mile to my station - each way lol

We have 14 in our own little squad now, I have said it before but the Blue squad will be the best of all time.

I ran for 10 minutes in the gym and walked for 20. Building up to this whole 5k thing. Going for a run tonight with my crazy drill instructor father, it is not going to be pleasant.:)

    Make that 15.

That must surely make this the largest Boardy intake to date?!

Congratulations Jumping Jack. Make sure you have a read at the "Starting Garnerville Soon?" thread. Loads of useful info in there. :D

    Hey PC Inwaiting

I wouldn't worry as i think i will be in same boat unless i become super fit over next few weeks, i have alot of work to do, nowhere near the standard i want to be, hope it doesnt add to much extra pressure in first few weeks. I picked up a good book on amazon called running made easy, tailored towards starting from scratch, contains a 5k running programme, aiming to get you up to 5k in ten weeks, i know time is def not on our side!!!!
