Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Quiz # - Wanna have a go?

    So 10 of these quiz-like things later and it seems that they're still popular. EAch one received up to 45 entries (if I leave it open for a week) and I'm delighted that so many people enter eah time.



    What I thought I'd do though is let you lot either submit future themes that you'd like to see or even submit 10 questions of your own and I'll add them to a quiz and correct the results as they come in.

    Thinking up of questions isn't the hardest thing in the world but there are some guidelines you need to expect.

    Make them so that people can think of at least 1 answer without having to google/wiki
    Make it so there aren't too many answers available




    So "Name a river somewhere in the world" is IMHO too general and will result in answers from the Nile to the Liffy while "Name a river in Ireland" is a much 'neater' question

    It doesn't matter if no one submits any questions as I have loads more to go through, but I thought if anyone would like to see how people would answer their 10 questions then I'd do the correcting (which is the bithchy part of it) :)

    Name a Well known (Profession)

    Feel free to change any of them.

    1 - Name a well known Fashion Designer
    2 - Name a well known Baseball Player
    3 - Name a well known Doctor
    4 - Name a well known Architect
    5 - Name a well known Physicist
    6 - Name a well known Cartoonist
    7 - Name a well known Astronaut
    8 - Name a well known Lawyer
    9 - Name a well known Priest
    10 - Name a well known Philosopher

    Note: It's just a suggestion. Don't PM me or Ponster with answers.

    2) Name a New England State?
    3) Name a native american tribe?
    4) Name an American football team?
    5) Name a basketball team?
    6) Name a baseball team?
    7) How many states?
    8) Name a city (NOT New York)?
    9) State beginning with 'N' (NOT New York)?
    10) State beginning with 'M'?

    As usual, correct answer doesn't matter, simply most popular.

    O.k. I had envisioned Q7 being answered without google (and being amazed at the crazy answers coming back) but you're right, this is unrealistic.
    New question 7 - "Name an Atlantic seaboard state (NOT New York)?"

    Q2 is simply a choice of 6. Although Q1 is ambiguous, that was the whole point of it. Its a term we use all the time, and I was looking to see was there a consensus opinion on what typifies it. However you're prob right so, we can rewrite it as "Name a confederate state?"

    All correct but there's nothing wrong with having questions that aren't 100% clear as there are usually no wrong answers. If out of 40 people only 2 say 'California' for a "southern state" then it shows that most people understood the question to mean "confederate state". The quiz is self-regulating.
