    Thanks again Maura ;)

No its not true, there have been trainees accepted into C13 with positions in the 700s in the merit pool. Again (the thorny subject) its down to 50:50

I don't know if it is all down to 50:50. My C13 merit number is early 500's, female and r/c background so if there is people in 700's already in then it can't be based purely on religion. I think there are a number of factors and it is really just a waiting game.

wondering how many other 13ers out there

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 721 ✭✭✭goodcopbadcop

I'm 13er. With your merit placing you are going to get in just a matter of waiting. The length of time it takes is a bit much, but there are alot of people to get through I guess.

    hi,

Does anyone know the psni's policy on ear piercings? I have a few in my ears, not just in my lobes, is there any chance I'd be able to keep one or two? Or is it a strick no piercing policy?

    Thanks

when people in here done their IST, did they take their time in working out the answers on the data card within the allocated time or did they go for broke and hope for the best..answers on a postcard please..

    Hi,
Do you guys think they'll let us know if we are getting into the August intake at the start of the summer. This is probably wishful thinking but I dread being in limbo over the summer.:(

In terms of the IST I tried to get as many right on the datacard as I thought consistency and lack of error would be better than getting loads wrong through guessing.

The rule book says: "Rings, studs or sleepers must not be worn through the ears, nose, eyebrows, tongue or any other visible part of the body. Body piercings and jewellery that are not visible when clothed must be removed whilst on duty due to the associated risks of injury."

I tried to get as many "right" as I could. On the second part I tried to be as methodical as possible.

The timing was designed to put us all under pressure, boy did it suceed in its goal.

Is it true that failures on IST are notified fairly quickly ie. within a week of test?, or is this another boards.ie urban myth. I think im just trying to grasp at any straws out there. I suspect that it isnt true....ah well......:o

Lot of debate about this at the mo, I remember from reading past posts and also when it has come up again that for C13, es on average, failures heard in about a week or so and successes nearer to the 2 week mark.
Knowing my luck i'll get the big fat No in the post tomorrow morning and instead of getting Very drunk at the Girls Aloud concert I will have to get REALLY drunk. Oh well, its a dirty job but someone has to do it I guess...
And yes I am going to see Girls Aloud so no sniggering you lot. The ticket was a present. And I am looking forward to it. So there!:p

Still no result either on the ist. I completed mine a week yesterday. I'm not sure about the theory that failures hear within a week. They might wait until all sittings have been completed and then notify everyone at the same time, given that there is only one campaign this year. Anyway if anyone hears anything let us know.

    Cheers!

I think I can categorically say that they wont wait until all tests are completed seeing as they are run over the course of a month. Nor do I suspect that C14 should vary much in time or structure to C13 so I'd stick with our perceived time frame but allow Consensias 20 day rule. Think its in their best interests to get results out asap and start scheduling AC days.

Obviously it depends on the date you did your test. Fails do get sent out quicker because there is no assessment centre to schedule in for someone who fails, where as if you pass they have to allocate you a slot for your assessment centre.

If you have something wrong on the day like a high blood pressure reading and have to send evidence from your doctor to prove its not high, how much will this delay you? I sent it off the next day after medical, should I find out soon enough If i passed?

    Goodcopbadcop,

It took me approx 9 weeks from the date of my medical to find out if I had passed!!

I think however blood pressure issues should not take as long to get a decision on!!

A woman i know, her daughter applied to join the psni she passed her IST, passed the role playing, passed her fitness test, plus her vetting stage, came down to the pool and she got turned down, her friend on the other hand passed everything as well, he got selected for training because he was RC and she wasn't.

i'm not making a point, i am answering someone's comment which was posted in the forums a pile of pages down. all i say is its down to determation and how much you want the psni to be your employer.

Maybe next time you should quote the comment since it is "a pile of pages down".

I got recorded delivery as well. I was so frustrated when i got out, I run 4 times a week and round a forrest and in the gym 4 days as well. Not a thing wrong with me and then something like this holds me up due to being anxious on the day or whatever.

I dont know where my vetting is at, just hope to hear back from the medical soon.

When did you have your medical?

Hi guys I'm afraid I'm new to this and am not sure what I'm doing!!

I'm from N.I and have been in the Met for almost 2 years.

Firstly to everyone who is finding the wait tough for the job. Stick in there I waited for three years to get in due to injury. It is an amazing job and I love it.

Now on to my question I'm married to a lovely girl from back home and due to personal family type circumstances we're having to move home.

That poses the job problem for me. Obvious you all know the PSNI don't take transfers and I have to apply from scratch. I won't get started on the fact that someone from Consensia told me that my experience is totally "irrelevant" but thankfully my Sergeants contact a governor in HR and he said that I would get the chance to submit a strong application should I pass the initial tests.

Anyway I'm probably boring you all!!!!

What I wanted to ask was I just did the IST on Friday, I practised like mad and I still came out of thing thinking I hadn't a hope in hell passing. Would someone enlighten me as to how they mark those tests. I didn't get either finished.

I get the feeling I might end up just a security guard!!!! ( what a nightmare!!!)

    Big Phil
I had 15 years experience and i had to go through the Consensia circus, so don't pin your hopes on just tranferring across.
If you do get in without going through the normal route let me know i would be very interested to know the reasoning behind it.

Secondly, if you can stay where you are i would. It's very different over here.
