I know that, I just said that in my last post :P It's not a REGRET as such, more a wishing I'd given my virginity to someone more deserving who might've appreciated more what I was giving.

Bluewolf, if you don't mind me saying so, reading your posts over the past two years or thereabouts, you seem a lot more mature than your years. Just saw your date of birth - you're six days older than my cousin yet you might as well be six years older. So, given the above, I've no doubt you were emotionally mature enough to have sex at 16. When my cousin was your age there is no way she'd have been ready for it - she's still like a 14-year-old and so are her mates.
I skipped years of school and started uni young, so all my friends are some years older than me, that's probably it.
But I also just didn't place as much importance on virginity as I think a lot do, so while my first experience was very far from romantic etc, it doesn't bother me - I've had plenty to make up for it since. But like take P_J's post above me - I don't get this "giving it away" to someone mindset and someone being deserving of it. Maybe I'm odd...

But thanks, that's nice of you to say :o

    :)
Also, you seem like a person who would only do something on your terms, not because everyone else is doing it. I did that, and THAT'S what I regret.
Yep, there is definitely way too much of a big deal placed on it - by both those who think you should be having sex by a certain age AND by those who think you should wait until you meet "someone special". And also by those who are freaked out because they haven't lost it by a certain age.
I regret my first time not because it wasn't with someone special, but because it was too early for me personally.
As I've said before, it's down to the individual, sex shouldn't be about broad social trends.

and yet every word of it is truth :)

for those who said 12 or under: anyone care to share? Was it something you're happy with now or do you regret it in hindsight?

ah but she'd be so cuddly ;) seriously I'll take some love handles over an anorexic throw pillow any day. And I'm not alone there: who says you have to be a size 2 supermodel to get attention? What an awful way to think.

Ohh don't get me wrong, neither extreme is appealing to me, and i do like curves on a woman.

Much like not wanting to be in bed with mushu, if i wanted to sleep with someone who had the body of a twelve year old chinese boy, i'd sleep with a twelve year old chinese boy.

I was almost 16 and i don't regret it at all. It was fantastic. Sweaty and amazing and no it wasn't with someone i loved. Just someone i thought was hot.

Again, a far better reason than simply screwing whoever will have you just to go along with what the crowd are doing (well what they SAY they're doing anyway).

I hate how people end up doing things "to fit in" or because "everyone else is doing it". I loved the guy I lost my virginity to and also thought he was really hot. Just a pity he was an a**hole!

Yeah, togster, I'd agree with Dudess on that ... glad you have good memories, dude.

    Snap!!

Not with bluewolf though ... :D (though I'm quite sure I wouldn't have regretted that either!!)

I don't think either of us thought we were in love, or would be together for ever, but we WERE fond of each other, we are still friends, and neither of us regret a thing. (Well, I suppose I do kinda regret not lasting longer the first time ... but I made up for it before the night was out. :D )

And I will admit to a certain sense of relief afterwards ...
it just wasn't something I had to "worry" about any more. Silly, I know ...

You don't lose your virginity early to fit in with other people who lost their virginity early, you lie about losing your virginity early to fit in with other people who are lying about losing their virginity early.

I was 17, with my bf and I have absolutely no regrets, it was perfect! We hadn't planned to do it, it just happened one night and that was the way I wanted it. Neither one of us had been with anyone before, so I wasn't nervous about doing anything wrong cos we were both equally in-experienced :p It was definitely one of the best nights of my life, and we're still together today.

One of my friends and her bf had a big night out when he was going to pop her cherry, they went out for dinner and then booked a room in a hotel, which is sweet in some ways, but in others I think that's too much of a build up. She said herself afterwards that she was dissappointed and that she was so nervous she tensed up and it was painful. Having such a build up to it is bound to end in disappointment imo.

I think people put too much stock in being ready. its just sex, its a perfectly natural not to mention enjoyable thing :D.

I dont want to differentiate between men and women but maybe it is harder for women with the perception mentioned before that guys are studs and women are dirt the more they sleep around.

Not really the case at my age anymore. I'm not that pushed about the sex part, more pushed about actually finding somebody who doesn't bore or annoy me.

Let me make this clear. Woman can lose their virginity at any any age where as us socially deprived nerds have to put in some effort.

Exactly. Any reasonably attractive woman can lose their virginity if they want to. That's not the case for men although it didn't matter anyway as I had no interest in sex until I was 19.

Not yet, wouldn't mind losing it but not arsed overall.

With my hand I don't need social skills!

I believe a great an noble person said it best:

"The world is full of shyness and cowardice towards our fellow man. This falters and stunts the great and the common. Allow this cowardice to consume you and you won't get any poon-tang."
