TV8 on turksat showed the man utd versus liverpool match yesterday FTA. I know they show some matches fta but I hadnt checked that station in ages. Have they shown many premiership matches live and FTA this season?

The Man U v Liverpool was also free to air on LiderTV on 13e. This is not the first time this channel has shown a Man U game this season. They also showed Man U two homes games with Newcastle and Arsenal.

I notice newcomer to Prem football broadcasts Sportsmax at 53w is showing Everton game this weekend FTA.

Oh to have a motor !

  • Registered Users Posts: 32,417 ✭✭✭✭watty

It's on C Band, not Ku, a motor won't be enough
    http://www.lyngsat.com/i707.html

    3.820GHz R circular polarisation

3m mesh dish, C Band LNBF and specialist receiver. Zaphod knows about all that stuff.

The coverage map is hard to understand. It might be Americas, or Argentina.

    ... later ...

I considered further. It is WEST hemi. so not possible here on ANY size dish. Pick by local relays in Trinidad.

We only get EAST hemi C band from that bird.

Move along lads. nothing of interest here :)

    bloody hell Watty.

    You know your stuff .

Oddly I get paid for knowing all this stuff*.

But often "knowing stuff" is a recipe for unpopularity, While no-one likes a clever dick, they hate ones that are right.

Thanks for vote of confidence. Knowing which query to put in Google, though is 90% of the cleverness. Understanding the results is the other 10% :)

(*But not by Boards. Also the rumours of drungs, fast wimmin, etc are just that.)

    Hi all,

Errr, i'm a newbee so apologies if this is an obvious question but.....

I have set up my satellite system pointing to hotbird and have picked up art sports 1 - 4 with my receiver and viaccess viewing card fine.
Unfortunately, i cannot seem to find artsports 5 or 6. Are they broadcast on hotbird still?
If so, is the channel name something other than "Art Sport 5...." ?

    thanks!
    dgl

  • Moderators, Regional South East Moderators Posts: 9,024 Mod ✭✭✭✭Aquos76

12015 h 27500 is where all the Art channels are located. Yes they should be labelled Art Sport 5 and 6

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2 dgl

    thanks for your reply.
i did a manual channel search on those parameters and it picked up 1 - 4 again fine, but still no 5 or 6.
could there be a problem with my LNB?
i notice from websearches that missing channels are sometimes due to that....

    thanks
    dgl

For those who don't already know.ART Sports have lost the contract for Premiership games from next season. If your thinking of buying a card buy 3 months at most.Unless they buy the rights in a secondary deal from someone else they won't be showing the prem next season.Digitalb is now the best bet although they always showed less matches on saturdays, hopefully this will change.

The 2007/8 package will be available on Saudi Arabi Showtime which will be a horizontally polarised channel on Nilesat 7w .

Lets not get into cards. Just the dish.

A friend in the pub business was warned that he will require a 1.8m or 2m dish for next year . Cost min €1200 for the dish and alignment and stand off above roof pole mount at the back of his pub .

I thought he was having me on and then I read this.

Apparently, Premiere Sport will have something like 320 of the 380 games next season. They always have english or german audio.

I don't know if you can just buy a sub card tho or if you need an address in germany to get one..

To change the audio on Premiere to English.

Go to your system setup and increase the 4 digit APID number for the channel you are watching by one.

    example change 2316 to 2317

    Works with other broadcasters too.

Most (all?) receivers have a button on the remote which allows you to easily switch between the various language streams which are transmitted.

not on sky of course Zaphod :p

  • Registered Users Posts: 32,417 ✭✭✭✭watty

They have moved the subtitles & commenrty on/off to the help. The Sky box is very very good user friendly for what Sky want you to be able to do, and usless for anything else.

when the language button does nothing because the braodcaster doesn't provide the choice, you need to change the APID.

    maybe Watty can explain.

From my own experience, I don't think I've encountered any channels, including Premiere, where the APIDs had to be changed manually.

Although I've noticed in one or two recent digital receivers the ability to edit the PIDs manually has been removed. Not good if you're trying to lock SCPC channels with low SRs or incomplete PATs.

i have technomate 1500 ci+ box, 80 cm dish. Im in Galway. im lookin to replace my art sub. with Digitalalb sub for new season. Do i just purchase card or do i need cam as well?? Alsat seem fairly reliable i reckon.

you need to move your dish to 16e. if you haven't got a motor.

Digitalb card works ok in a TM (depending on firmware installed)

Alsat are experts in TM and Digitalb.

From what I've read, you'll also need a 1m dish for Eutelsat W2, as it's weaker than its neighbours, Astra1 and Hotbird.

    I watched a little.
don't speak the lingo myself :)

The whole game was FTA unencrypted.
    Checked on a few occasions

Next match on Slovenia2 is Liverpool v Chelsea

Is there any chance of that happening?

Honestly don't know. Get ready for the usual rumours throughout the closed season.

  • Moderators, Regional South East Moderators Posts: 9,024 Mod ✭✭✭✭Aquos76

One thing that is certain, is Digialb have rights again and their package was excellent all throughout this season. Most Sat afternoons there were two 3pm games on along with every Sky and Setanta game. All for less that €180 for the year. That was superb value.

I see the cards are up around £185 for next year already.

Yeah, DigitAlb packages went up near the beginning of the year. They've also launches 3 or 4 HD channels (as well as some MPEG4 SD channels), though I'm not sure how subscriptions are changing with regards to those.

DigitAlb has been great alright. And slowly got better with the amount of stuff being shown. Some championship games now. Pity that they don't broadcast in widescreen and sometimes have commentary out of sync with the video (or poor audio on occasion).
