Decided to check this out and I really enjoyed it.

It's a lot darker than I expected with episode themes covering
    abortion, child abuse & nazis
    which may offend some.

Having morally ambiguous characters, makes a nice change and gives the show a slight Seinfeldesque quality.

Not a huge fan of DeVito in the second season. He just seems too big a star to be able to play a character in a show like this.

    Agree with you there!

He's had one or two decent moments... but doesn't hold any comic weight compared to the genius that is Charlie Kelly!

Ye, what a genious. Danny devito completly over acts, which is hard to do in such an over the top show. The first series just blew me away though, especially seen as how i stumbled on by luck on bravo. Haven't loved an american comedy this much in a long time.

Danny DeVito has committed to continue as a series regular for all subsequent seasons.
Ah well, can't have everything. Good news all the same.

A couple more articles on the season renewal:

I had heard the creators were not happy initially that Danny DeVito joined the cast, but FX told them if a guy like DeVito wants in, he is in. Don't know if they have warmed to him yet or not. I don't think they need him in every episode. Every fourth or fifth (like those masters of social grace, the McPoyle brothers) would be plenty.

has the first air date of 'Denis gets a Puppy' been confirmed yet?
