Bass players are often overlooked members of bands I was wondering who people favorite bass players are

My nomination would go to Dave Allen

    Mark King! :)

No really I would have to go for........... Nick Olivieri. He is one of the very few bassists that makes the instrument come to life. A pleasure to listen to.

Other faves of mine are Nicky Wire from the Manics (esp. on The Holy Bible), John Hassall from The Libertines and Yeti and of course the legend that is Flea

I'd say that's only true of crap or boring bass players. If they try playing more than root notes then they're hard to miss.

    Geddy Lee - Rush
    Chris Squire - Yes
    Tom Hamilton - Aerosmith

John Paul Jones fan here, though his solo stuff was a bit crazy.

    D'Arcy.

Myung has some nice licks, but not much else. D'Arcy, while technically not as good, was very involved in how the songs were written, she was a real driving force, which every musician should be.

Tis true, you can't front on Macca. Have a listen to 'Hey Bulldog' off Yellow Submarine for some Ricky 4001 riff madness.

With every great bassist comes a Ric - McCartney, Lemmy, Geddy Lee, Chris Squire etc.
