    50 + 1 = 51 * (3 + 4) = 357 * 2 = 714 + 25 = 739

Difficult one but easy once you get it!

Hard one for ya (at least it seemed hard when i made it up!)

    Nightmare, Boro.

    Spent ages today on it.

Will not make my usual mistake of saying it's impossible, but you can reassure
me that you found a way to do it...! Or is there something obvious I'm not seeing
    (again!)

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 18,062 Mod ✭✭✭✭ixoy

Nah it's a nightmare doh.ie! I can't see the damned thing either! But we can't give up... never...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,560 ✭✭✭Boro

Ok a clue - subtracting 10 from the (accumulated) number is the last operation
    so thats 2 5 7 8 75 to get 964

    Hope this narrows it down!

Got annoyed watching all my other ones being solved really easily so i spent a good hour thinking up a right ***** of one the other day :D

I can hardly contain my frustration over this one...! Nightmare. Large portions of my life I will never get back now...

I can get 952, 953, 955 and 956 - some several different ways. But 954 (or 964 without the 10) is continuing to elude me... even with your hint.

This is the most difficult of these I have ever seen. Will come back to it when my head doesn't hurt so much!

Taking pity on you :D - the second last operation is to multiply by 2 (the last operation was to subtract 10).

I told ya twas a hard one!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,416 ✭✭✭doh.ie

You have positively ruined my life. Can't believe I didn't see it before.
I should tell you, I tried all the variations on multiplying (AND dividing!) by 2
and did not see this anywhere among them. 70x7?!!? Gah!

    *deep sigh*

    ((((75-5)*7)-8)*2)-10 = 9 flippin' 54.

I hated this more than any puzzle I've ever done.

Now, give me the guts of a week to find something just as bloody annoying!

Still working on nightmare puzzle, but in the meantime...

Congratulations on solving it finally - maybe i should have put a health warning on it :D

    10 + 25 = 35 * 2 = 70 * 3 = 210 * 4 = 840 + 1 = 841

Dont worry - dont have any more of those hard ones saved up :)

Thank God for that! (Although I suspect you may have found some evil formula to make them harder than usual.)

    Except you may be slipping:

    (50*(10+7))-(8+3)=839

    6 + 7 = 13
    13 + 10 = 23
    23 x 25 = 575
    575 - 8 = 567

can you use decimals in this? i got close:

    25*75=1875
    (7+1)/4=2
    1875/2=937.5
    937.5-4=933.5

    ..?

    fraid decimals arent allowed

    Thats a tough one wiw4

closest i can get is 932

    75 * 4 = 300 * (4-1) = 900 + 25 + 7 = 932

did you mean to have two 4's? Not sure if thats allowed

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 64 ✭✭wiw4

wel i robbed it from the start of the thread, so il let there be a 3 instead of one of the fours:

    75 25 1 4 7 3

    Target: 933

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,560 ✭✭✭Boro

    75 * 4 = 300 * 3 = 900 + 25 + 7 + 1 = 933

Not the most difficult one there doh.ie wink.gif

    ((10+3)*50)+1 = 651

    Ok my go:

Crud. Well, I kind of just pull the numbers out of my ass cos I don't have time to work out the evil stuff Boro does ("Let's make sure they don't have a 5, because it ends in a 5...!" etc.)

Plus, if people at work see many more scribbles of numbers on blank paper, they'll start to wonder if I'm going slightly insane.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,416 ✭✭✭doh.ie

OK, so not as easy as mine, but doable...

    ((3*7)*((25-(10/5)))-1=482
