thanks for clearing that up.. so just because someone may post more in favor of Israel doesn’t mean they hate 2 billion Muslims..

The flotilla wasn't going to Israel.

But you're right - Israel is terrified of them. They had hoped to detain the protesters and simply deport them. Quietly.

But Ben-Gvir just couldn't keep his racist/terrorist ego in check and blew a massive hole in the Hasbara. That is what is turning Israel and its supporters apoplectic - not the protesters but Israel's human rights in full view of the world.

So as ever, Israel and its supporters are just pissed that they got caught.

Your arguments are so flimsy. How would you ensure enough food is getting to the starving people of Gaza? Do you give a fiddlers? Is Israel correct to block the humanitarian aid?

Did you ever wonder why Israel has still not let the International press into Gaza?

And I'm guessing the videos they posted (didn't see any) were to highlight the plight of Gazans and show the IDF breaking international on the high seas.

    Can't blame them really,

Well if is legally verified and you accept the verdict, you will surely then appreciate why other posters objected to posts that were supportive of Israel. By the way would you characterise the criticism of Russia over the Ukraine war as a pile on? Russia and its supporters tend to view it that way. It seem to be a common theme among those accused of wrongdoing to frame it as a stich up/ witchunt.

yes. I already addressed that to Miniegg. Meant to type Gaza. As I actually did correctly type Gaza at end my post.

You can interpret my posts whatever way you want to, as I can with others.

Russia attacked/invaded a sovereign state. Different situation, different peoples involved etc. different thread

I know I can, and reading your post directly after some back and forths, it read to me like you were linking anyone in any way being more pro Israel, as them hating 2 billion Muslims. But doesn’t matter now as you cleared it up.

It's really surprising that there are very few (if any) organisations who have published reports, with evidence, that Israel is not committing Genocide.

I think @Miniegg compiled a list a while back of all the organisations that have provided reports, with corroborated evidence, that shows that Israel has committed Genocide (and continues to do so). It was a substantial list if I recall.

Back to the early days of the ICJ case (not long to go now) where they found the SA case plausible and issued preliminary measures for Israel to prevent genocide. Twice. Why on earth would the ICJ do that if there was no genocide? Simple - they knew Israel was either committing it or was on the cusp of committing it. That was before Israel starved Gaza.

If you want to be more pro Israel after watching them murder at least 50k women and children, that’s your business.

Not a hope I’ll ever understand how you can hold that view while pretending to care about the people in Gaza.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,586 ✭✭✭Miniegg

I'm sure you have twigged it - but I believe the experts/ human rights groups/ international medical agencies and investigators, including in Israel itself, who tell us genocide is happening in Gaza. I have seen and heard no reason or argument in here in two years to doubt them, just slander and abuse for saying it out loud.

My concern with the flotilla is Israel are stopping people from entering Gaza, not because their biscuits are dangerous, but because they are terrified what is happening there will get out. Why else would media also be banned even that evil bastard Putin isn't doing that.

But tbh, all I see is that you fully agree with Israel stopping a boat laden with food, while not really being able to explain why you agree with them, whilst also saying you agree people should be able to document the place in the event genocide was actually happening.

Surely when you don't believe it is happening, you should be railing for Israel to open the place up to prove it! An odd dichotomy.

    Anyway, appreciate the engagement.

Has any country ever been falsely accused of committing genocide and multiple war crimes? It would seem quite an extraordinary development in geopolitical history.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,876 ✭✭✭✭walshb

sorry, who’s pretending to care about Gaza? I hope both peoples can improve relations and live a lot more happily side by side. I don’t need to be so incredibly one sided in my views and criticisms of one side.

Good to see FFG passing the OTB despite concern growing in the US which is vital for our economy. They're walking a tight rope but we're one of the leading EU nations.

I don't like FFG but credit where it's due.

Well, Israel thinks it has - but that's no surprise.

It's a bit like the criminals who robustly profess their innocence only to be presented with undeniable evidence of them committing said crimes red handed.

And then they're taken down to reflect on their crimes and where it all went wrong.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 14,809 ✭✭✭✭Cluedo Monopoly

They are a long way from passing it yet! It may never happen. They have only agreed the wording.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,961 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

It's astonishing that Israel and their supporters think that all they have to do is flatly deny carrying out genocide and war crimes and 'everything will be fine' : as if being accused of genocide by the ICC and there being an international arrest warrant out for your PM is the most normal thing in the world.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,932 ✭✭✭RoyalCelt

Sorry I was watching prime time there. You're right, but that's the position the government will adopt unless the opposition can negotiate even stronger measures. Either way legislation will be passed that puts us at the forefront in Europe.

Just to repeat what I posted earlier because I really think it is worth repeating.

All this outrage against the protesters by Israel and its supporters is driven by one thing only - that Israel was caught with its pants down. And no better man than Ben-Gvir to do that. He just can't help himself - golden nooses and belittling Palestinian prisoners.

It's similar (but has got way more attention) than those medics who the IDF said were terrorists in unlit and unmarked vehicles. Then the video came out.

The only thing that grinds Israel's gears is getting caught.

Hence no press in Gaza. Hence no protesters in Gaza. Hence denying over 30 aid organisations to continue working in Gaza. Hence banning UNWRA. Hence vilifying Haaretz. Hence vilifying Ireland - the most antisemitic country on the planet.

No - Israel simply despises getting caught red handed and its atrocities exposed for all to see. And that goes for its supporters who will then repeat the Hasbara ad nauseum.

    Simple.

    (Edit: spelling)

    You have been.

Stating that the flotilla could have been a security threat to Gaza, stating “there’s far too much at state for Gazans” while also denying a genocide that has been stated as such by endless genocide scholars. But sure you know better.

If you cared about Gaza (like you say you do) you’d be appalled by the IDF for obliterating it.

You have way more patience than me for the frankly unbelievable mental gymnastics around starving children, with a dollop of Islamophobia.

That too, although if they're kidnapping them in international waters anyway I wouldn't really expect any better.

That's the thing I don't get. We're seen as anti Israel because we believe they're westerners like ourselves and the real truth is they're much more like their Arab neighbors when it comes to such abuses

The parallel is they are both illegal occupiers and both have committed war crimes against civilians. The leaders of both countries are wanted by the ICC. Leaders who have both expressed admiration for each other too.

Why is it supporters of Israel don't mind discussions of other countries if it's in defense of Israel, however they aren't as keen to discuss other countries when it highlights a possible double standard in their own position?

With this in mind perhaps everyone should have moved on after World War 2. The Nuremburg prosecutions were unfair. I think anyone one siding the issue was miguided. Those Piling on anyone who offered support to the Nazis were clearly wrong too.

"A bill to ban the importation of goods from Israeli settlements will go before the Cabinet on Tuesday after being signed off at a meeting of Coalition leaders on Monday night."

Senan Molony, Political Correspondent / 26 May 2026 5:30 AM

    https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/politics/bill-to-ban-goods-from-israeli-settlements-goes-to-cabinet-but-services-remain-exempt/a/153198622.html

A token sanction on physical goods (estimated to be €125,000 per annum). But the far more lucrative online and digital trade services remain exempt. This protects both the profits and the compliance of US tech multinationals using Ireland as their European hub.

An alliance of Ireland, Spain and Slovenia were trying to “build a momentum” when they asked EU to discuss suspending its trade pact with Israel (in full or even partially) by leveraging human rights clause Article 2 of EU-Israel Association Agreement. This would require a unanimous vote among all 27 EU member states. Key powers Germany and Italy have used backchannels to coordinate a veto and block the move.

To underscore, EU is Israel’s biggest trading partner.

    Thank you Senan.

Its a heavily watered down version with more holes in it then a sieve. It won't change much.

Dr Margaret Connolly told Drivetime on RTÉ Radio One:

My colleagues experienced 35 fractures, five head injuries, there was 15 sexual assaults, eye injuries, ear injuries, huge number of laser injuries.

She also alleged that bullets were shot at people’s feet and that people were “bent down like hogs” and forced to kneed in excruciating positions for extended periods of time. [...]

We walked among lots of people with fractures who screamed and howled in pain all night long, and we had no pain relief,” she said.

“People in agony, people freezing and cold with hypothermia, no clothes, drenched clothes."

I read IDF had rubber bullets.
