Removing airlock in kerosene boiler

    Hi everyone, I need some advice.

    We have a kerosene oil boiler and it ran out of oil yesterday. I ordered a delivery but it won’t arrive until Monday.

    Since the house was freezing, I bought 25 litres of kerosene from the petrol station and added it to the tank.

    However, the radiators still won’t heat up.

    I opened the boiler panel in the garden and pressed the red reset button. The fan comes on for 5–10 seconds and then stops, but there is still no heat.

    What else can I do? Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

    If you Google "how to bleed an oil burner" you will get several instructional videos.

    It's not that big a job if you have the tools and are a bit handy.

    thanks but I am a single mum. I am not an expert so that boiler is complicated. That’s why I want to ask. I couldn’t find it.

    You could ask the delivery driver if they know someone who would do it. Or if you're renting maybe the landlord.

    Someone on the forum I linked to might advise you further if you post there.

    I'm being presumptuous here, but maybe ask whoever poured the 25L of oil into the tank to help bleed the boiler. Alternatively, it's ok to try resetting the boiler a few times, which sometimes works. Note finally that oil delivery guys often help with bleeding boilers, moreso the smaller outfits.
