I think really it was a device to keep certain content exclusive to VM cable customers, at a time when they no longer had enough content for a dedicated sports channel (arguable as to whether they ever did). Presumably the UCL games that used to air on it will now move to VMTV Three/Four and be available to a wider audience.

RIP VM More. I’m guessing that there is more value to keeping VM Four as it generates advertising revenue unlike VM More which didn’t carry adverts. I would also imagine with the very limited exclusive sport it had left, that the channel wasn’t attracting many new TV subscribers anymore. The channel was also initially meant to show ITV dramas before they aired on VM’s free to air channels. This did happen for a while but in the latter part of its existence the channel was almost all repeats.

"almost all repeats" - same could be said for the other VM channels too! 🙃

Confirmation that a new Fast channel called Sleigh On PLAY starts on December 1st. A dedicated festive channel on Virgin Media PLAY featuring favourites like Living with Lucy, Gogglebox Ireland, Faithless and loads more.

Details of another underwhelming Xmas schedule here as well, albeit Nova.ie call it an "Incredible Line-Up" with The Snapper once again being reeled out.
