The fog can be fairly bad around Maynooth at times, I thought today was warm, relative to last few days!

I was dreding the football sidelines early this morning but was pleasantly surprised.

It did help I had my duvet coat on as my husband calls it along with the hat & gloves😁

Already quite windy this morning in Greystones. Gusting 45 knots at the moment. Yellow warning, for Wicklow, 'kicks in' at 10am.

It already 'kicked in' at 1pm

In Clare, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, the warning came into effect at 1pm 🙄 and will expire at 10pm.

Strange warning time for Wicklow. Looking at the models the strongest winds would appear to be around 9pm, but the warning expires at 8. It's a lovely day here at the moment, blustery but bright and dry.

Dry, bright, chilly, and a light breeze in Celbridge. I hope it holds as my roof is currently being repaired.

Miserable day up in Donegal. Airport reporting a steady 33 knots with a gust of 47 knots in moderate rain.

Seemed to have dodged the rain in Dublin today

Heavy showers now here in North County Dublin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,270 ✭✭✭adocholiday

It ended up being a fairly miserable night in Wicklow after a nice day. The winds were stronger than I thought they would be and we lost power for a couple of hours. It seems to be easing now but plenty of heavy showers still.

Just looking back through the years of MT Craniums Daily Weather Forecasts. The reality is each days forecast is a day of our lives. Thats alot of years and dedication he has shown to these boards. Must also have great love for what he does and striving to improve year in and year out. Cant help but admire it.

Blue skies this morning. There was plenty of sun yesterday but those fast moving showers were punishing. Some lovely rainbows though.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Beautiful morning with a nice frost. Not a puff of wind.

very nice morning here in Meath too, a nice frost and plenty of sunshine. Could be a while before we see another frost with potentially several weeks of mild moist laden south-westerlies with cooler still mild westerly interludes on the way.

Lovely clear morning with a slight frost and yet I've seen some comment last week saying they didn't want anymore Frost for the winter . So they want the utter dross that's coming our way instead???? Just don't get ludicrous comments like that.

We get this dross winter after winter, weeks and weeks on end of temperatures above 10C most Decembers, lucky to see 1 frost in the entire month most winters. January usually mild with a 3 day busted flush of a cold spell then back to mild for the rest of winter. Not saying this is how this winter plays out but this is my memories of most winters over the past 25 years bar a few exceptions most notably 2009, 2010 and 2018.

Maybe as we get older we all have selective memory of summers and winters gone by. There have seen freaks in our weather conditions which can affect parts of the country and not others. In my own county of Meath we have not seen much if any snow these past few years but can get these easterly events like 2018 and 1982 that may not be as memorable for those out west. January 2025 was a very notable month for weather events throughout the country. The South received memorable snowfall on the 5th which remained frozen on the ground for days. We had approximately 15 days of frost dipping at times to -8c and sunny days. Then we had a once in 30 year windstorm in Eowyn.

Keep the faith weather enthusiasts. Sometimes the chase to win the all Ireland turns out to be better than actually winning it.

I feel like we have had 7 or 8 frosty mornings in the last 10 days. Not bad for November. There has been excellent star gazing most nights since 16th Nov.

Oddly enough over the years I have noticed frost seems more common in November than it does in December! The past 10 days or so has really been the only enjoyable period of this entire autumn with frosty nights and some sunny days! September and October were utterly forgettable in my opinion. First half of November was a nightmare with the constant deluges so this past week or so has easily been the best of Autumn 2025.

And what is your definition of an All Ireland winter wise, please don't say December 2010, as that still gives me nightmares. No matter what people think, we are totally and utterly unprepared for bad weather in this country such as December 2010, and the country pretty much shuts down once we see a bit of snow. So for me personally, the lower, dry temperatures of last week and yesterday and today constitutes a perfect Winter in my mind.

A beautiful few days in Dublin for November, especially today. Definitely the past week has been the best part of this autumn by a long shot and it's not even close.

That's exactly what I mean gilly. The thrill of the fantasy charts in the build up to a possible event and then when one does happen, the hardship seeps through after a couple of days. I would love a sprinkling of snow at Christmas to make it festive like the Guinness ad, but give me these sunny days and slightly frosty mornings any day. I don't want frozen cattle drinkers and the auld massey struggling to start. And I definitely want my power to remain on over Christmas so I can indulge. 🥳

Rain. 7C. It's not very pleasant at all. Ground cannot get dry. Rather frustrating.

Moody old day here in the Scottish highlands. Snow capped peaks yesterday as we made our way north.
