Here's our next 10 opponents before we play City on Jan 17th: Everton, Crystal Palace, West Ham, Wolves, Bournemouth, Aston Villa, Newcastle, Wolves, Leeds, Burnley.

3rd round of FA Cup I assume will come in and around the Burnley away game.

100% agree he shouldn't be starting longer term and he does visibly tire in the 2nd half of games.

If he could be renewed on a good wage he'd be a good player to bring into a game. Obviously very much remains to be seen if he'd even be interested in that type of role / deal. He has a lot of experience too which the squad lacks.

I think the worst part of the ugarte thing is we paid so much for someone psg clearly didn't want, given players can struggle with adaption to the premier league a loan with option or a much lower price is probably where the transfer team let themselves down the most now I think about it

    Better out than in.

McGrath is prob my favorite Irish player. His stories are so funny, he's such a humble guy and such an awesome player.

If you ever need to be inspired watch him against Italy in usa 94. Just a wall.

That and keane against juve are special performances

if sesko is injured, does it matter - will he be loss? amorim doesnt seem to rate him.

i thought he was looking good a few games back and boom, dropped outta nowhere. its great for a strikers confidence apparently.

us financing neves annoys me. though i dont think he would work in the PL. i hated helping chelsea by signing mount.

when a big team wants rid, we need to steer clear. varane, cas, and ugarte certainly. we were the saudi before saudi. offload your **** there and make some money

Sesko stuff seems a bit harsh. Not great today but needs a consistent run of games which he hasn't really got. I like him and the comparable to hojlund isn't there for me. He's a far more gifted player.

I thought Ugarte was grand when he came on, one point he had 3 spurs players around him on the by line and dribbled his way out of it to pass it on.

What did I miss he was bad today?

( tbf I had an absolute raging terrorist of a 3 year old kamikazing around the place while trying to feed 7 week old, so may have missed a bit)

As bad as he has been, he wasn't the worst transfer given they would only need to sell him for ~£25m to break even on him with PSR. In terms of bad transfers, it pales in significance when compared to the truly awful value transfers like Antony and Sancho. If a few Ugarte type transfers are going to be INEOS's biggest failures in the market, we'll be doing very well.

I wasn't watching him too closely tbh but also didn't think he did much wrong today at least, he did keep them inside for the 2nd goal but he was bulldozed back towards his own goal and did sprint back out but wasn't in time and not much he could have been done about it, no idea if he was pushed but if he was seems like something var would call against us 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,710 ✭✭✭Caustic

Ya That's definitely fair as I said earlier I thought the transfer had plenty of thought to it but maybe when they look back we could have done a bit better agree he is far from our worst signing by a long shot

far more gifted is irrelevant. does the job or doesnt do the job is all that matters.

i think amorim made a mistake in dropping him when he was getting going. though 11/15 is a decent return since then.

can i ask if lammens is an issue? 7 goals conceded in 4 games is far too much.

liverpool aside, he down on where he needs to be. young and all, fine. i just worry that'll be the story of the next 5 years (amorim included)…just needs more time, next year, soon.

XGA isn’t a measure of whether he should be saving it or not.

Both Spurs goals today were very low XG chances, which ended up with one getting a lucky deflection and a shot happening to go straight at a team mate to divert into the goal

You could say that about any players, is Cuhna doing the job? I think so but he hasn't really got going yet. I put Sesko in the same bracket. I dont disagree but also feel he hasn't got a fair chance and his link up with Mbeumo has been very good so far.

Another striker is needed as backup thats a better option than Zirkzee who can't get a game/minutes and really isn't up to it.

He needs to play well enough to get a consistent run of games. I can’t see how he’s going to get that (injury aside). We’re just so much better when he doesn’t play and every game feels like a must win for Amorim to get some momentum. Don’t even have europa to give him a run out.

In fairness to Amorim, I doubt he envisaged having to play his second most expensive signing out of position because his most expensive signing has started so terribly.

We desperately need a striker in January. Perhaps the injury will accelerate this.

If you look back at the clip, it's very clever defending from VDV.

Sesko looks over his shoulder and sees VDV begins sprinting on his outside (his left hand side). But the second Sesko is finished scanning behind him, VDV changes direction and sprints towards the inside. But Sesko thinks he's sprinting on the outside, so he takes a touch towards goal, thinking he's taking it away from VDV.

It was elite defending from VDV, but Sesko maybe should've been aware of that trick and scanned a half second later. Very small details anyway.

Twas said below xga ain't the right stat, it's psxg for goalkeepers before today he was 1.5 so actually doing well and I doubt today made any difference to that given how the goals went on against us, nothing he could do on either

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,490 ✭✭✭✭StringerBell

Very frustrating second half, think we coasted a little too much, probably a bit too comfortable and got bitten in the end as we can't buy a clean sheet.

Going in the right direction, would have lost that game last year etc etc but it's just a disappointing result.

Decent points return this run, above par. Need to keep improving.

They've scored 1 fewer than Arsenal so far. It's a massive improvement.

He was atrocious, chasing shadows. He was partly at fault for both goals. Not getting anywhere near his man for the first and playing Richarlison on for the second after being outmuscled.

I want him to succeed but the drop in quality when he replaces Casemiro is staggering.
