Maybe its because I have never read any of the novels but so far I am liking the show.

Its not perfect but it's certainly better than Fair City.

    Peace and long life.

    Same as that.

They should have the EastEnders "du du du" at the end of every episode though.

I don't I just admire the mirror RTE lends to us as a population and reflects back to us how Ireland is changing and growing. It's a great social commentator and does so without judgement or agenda. Thank you RTE for this and all your other shows.

Your comment gets a bit soppy towards the end but I completely agree about the best of RTE being a valuable reflection of Irish society. It seems self-evident to me that Ireland would be a less interesting place without it, and I wonder what it reveals about so many Irish people that they do not see that.

Just finished the second episode. I hope the tone lifts again at some point.

The ‘If you’ve been effected by…’ message and voice-over that came on during the credits is so annoying and infantilising.

Watched it for the first time on Sunday so didn't have a lot of the backstory. Louise Harland was very good, the rest of them not so much.

RTÉ fails largely in most ways as a broadcaster, including such reflections that many people seem to want. They don't see it because RTÉ largely aren't doing their job.

Indeed while RTÉ might suggest that Drama is important to them, almost all of their drama is co-produced and with that in mind it aims itself at an international audience, indeed RTÉ I'd say have little to no involvement in many of the local dramas that they "support".

Indeed any national broadcaster could do this, RTÉ happen to have been given the gig and have largely failed. IMO.

I believe that this series is largely funded by RTÉ themselves, which is usual.

I happened by this thread to see what viewers where saying, so sorry to butt in.

Oh, I didn't realise the last episode was the end of the series.
Felt like there should have been another episode or two to go……

Stephanie Preissner has indicated on podcasts, that she's hoping RTE commissions Season 2.

RTE gave that tripe with Huberman and the talking dog a second series so it wouldn't surprise me.

The social media side of this has been well used by Preissner & she’s def angling for a second series. I was surprised her background is in acting, she was very wooden in it, prob the worst of them all
