Trying to watch on Netflix now but have to watch from beginning.. must be because there are ads..

Ok, watched it. Bud got the win, as I thought he would. But he didn’t have to show a huge amount. Was a tame enoughfight.

Canelo’s weaknesses, which I’ve mentioned before are that he lacks intensity, volume and finishing. Bit too ploddy. Bivol really showed this, and the smaller Bud exposed it again

Large parts fight Bud was retreating, which would have been scored for Canelo pressing.

What surprised me was that Canelo was pretty easily deterred. He had manoeuvred Bud into the corner pretty easily at times and there his power could have really told. After the opening 3 rounds and a bit in 5 I thought he was very limited. Last two rounds he was looking out of the ring and cut a forlorn, frustrated and resigned figure. Vibes of ‘do I need this anymore.’ Brilliant win for Bud, crowning glory for a super fighter.

Excellent from Crawford. He's some boxer. Canelo completely frustrated by the end, in the same was he was against Floyd and Bivol.

Netflix commentary and analysis is atrocious. Kellerman was acting like he'd had a stroke in the ring as he was being guided by the producer on what to ask and just ended up rambling instead of asking questions.

great win for crawford and i hope he now has made the money his talent deserves, wonder if canelo has any more left in the tank.

Where does Crawford rank all time. That's a historically great win last night.

Simple: look at some past 168 lbs greats. Would Crawford have beaten a Toney, Jones, Calzaghe, Froch, Kessler, Ward, Eubank, to name a few. He would in his hole have. He beat Canelo, who was getting way too overrated the past few years. Canelo wouldn’t beat the names above either.

So as much as I think Crawford is brilliant, I am not seeing last night’s win as historically super. I thought he’d win.

And another thing: did he beat the best version of a 168 lbs Canelo? I think Canelo last while looks slower, staler and not that great

Would Crawford have beaten a Hagler or Leonard or Hearns at 154, 160 and 168… no no no.

Crawford is a brilliant fighter from 135-147 I think. Above this he is not in my top league

Crawford is an all time great in my book. If he actually had gotten better fights throughout his career he potentially could have gone down as the best to ever do it. That's how good he is. He has everything, chin, stamina, timing, switch hitter, power in both hands, ring IQ, defense.

He's the best since Mayweather without any doubt.

He's definiteky in the conversation for the best there ever was. I thought that before last night. He has all the tools and traits you mention

I think Bud is a better figter than Mayweather, and kinda' cleary for me. More versatile, rounded, solid. But if they fought I think Floyd probably beats him due to sharp shooting and pot shotting

Canelo on about a rematch.. can’t see a change. If anything I reckon Bud now knows he can really beat Canelo. He’d step up the offence and do a better job in fight 2.

Father time looks like its catching up with Canelo.

He has been boxing since he could walk and has been in many big fights and wars. His engine is gone. Crawford is a class act in and out of the ring.

I see the MMA diehards saying it was boring / boxing is boring. I thought it was a real fight for the purists. Great defense on show from both fighters.

rematch makes financial sense if Turki is interested in paying for it

it was an ok figgt. Even from purists sense I don’t think it was great. Needed more work, action etc. Why I think if they fight again, Bud will be more spiteful and more offensive

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,379 ✭✭✭squinn2912

If they fought again I think Bud would get the stoppage. Two or three times he hit Canelo clean and he arced his back bobbing around. He has some chin but Bud fights too cleverly, fast and focussed for him

For me the biggest problem for Canleo against Bud is volume. You cannot let a great like Bud have space and time. Canleo just wasn't punching near busily enough.

Plodding forward is fine when you are winning, but when not winning you need to be faster forwards and more punching offence.

On the inside Canelo wasn't fast enough or explosive enough. Bud was better. For Canelo to have a chance to beat Bud he needs at least 15-20 more punches per rd. I can't see this

Why did they release the AI scoring - a draw.

How stupid can you get ??

Quick night in the office for Boots.

Bud is three years older than him and started fighting at 7 years of age.

Canelo definitely looked older in the ring though.

That Buatso fight was absolute rubbish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,025 ✭✭✭✭blade1

Cameron and Jones a better scrap.

    Liam a bit fortunate imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,190 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

the commentary for the Cameron fight was terrible, it’s like they wanted or expected him to lose, for me his work was more accurate and controlled and he defended so many shots that Adam smith was claiming they landed
