Its amazing how all these lads rise to the surface once they have another bandwagon to get behind but there wasn't a peep out of them for two months when Trump was in free fall. Chasing his tail, trying to bury the Epstein problem.

Ah don’t be so narrow minded, looksee. Sure you never know when you’ll need to shoot someone in the head when waiting for your coffee in Starbucks 🙃

He's still too well for my liking. Unfortunately he'll probably pop his clogs without ever suffering an ounce for all the damage he's caused in his miserable pathetic existence.

This is the petty little man that people are rowing in behind. Ordering the removal of a peace tent on the instigation of some MAGA reporter. You can see his demeanor change as soon as the "reporter" says the tent is anti-Trump.

A pathetic fool and his followers.

Remember the clamour to diagnose Biden with Alzheimer’s because of a few clips online?

There is ample visual evidence now that the WH isn’t fully disclosing everything regarding the president’s health. He’s been inexplicably absent from the public for several days, unexplained bruising on his extremities, routinely unable to stay awake at official events and now evidence of odd drooping on his face coinciding with releasing videos manipulated by AI.

Thats aside from the years of incidents of saying that wrong thing or forgetting names of relatives.

Strange these experts on Biden are mysteriously silent.

What gay lifestyle? Why does he assume that because the young guy says he's gay, that he's automatically living a so-called 'gay life-style'

Maybe that lad is celibate or unpartnered or not actively having sexual relations? Who knows?

Do all heterosexuals have a 'straight life-style'? Very condescending reply from Kirk in that clip.

Find it somewhat weird that posters are getting annoyed by people saying Kirk shouldn't be whitewashed... He's a hero of freedom of speech apparently so shouldn't we be allowed to the rhetoric he utilized?

I always found the one sided abuse of Biden in that debate absolutely gas. Trump was absolutely terrible as well, the only difference being that the Republicans are well versed in closing ranks, whereas the Democrats can't help but disintegrate from within.

The same applies today because there's no way anyone in the Republican party is going to call out Trump's health, whereas if it was Biden there today you can guarantee there would be Democrats breaking rank and causing chaos in their party.

THey may have been called Equality Studies in those days. Not really part of the basic undergraduate programme then.

That is basically the entire point of empathy. Empathy is connecting emotionally with another person, or group of people, to imagine things from their perspective and be able to feel emotions as if the experience was happening to you.

Obviously the exact emotions are entirely subjective, we cannot even experience the same sensations like taste, smell and even colours, but empathy is not about feeling exactly the same as someone else, it's about connecting with them emotionally.

The reason empathy is such an important concept politically, is because of how humans can have empathy for some people or groups, but not others. De-humanising or 'othering' allows us to treat some people or groups as sub human, or to become blind to them entirely, while we can experience heightened feelings of connection or empathy with individuals or groups that we have been specifically connected to.

Our own friends and family are Tier 1 on the empathy chart. We are already connected with them physically and spatially and have shared experiences and interests, so we can more easily connect emotionally and share empathic experiences

Then we have people who are ethnically and politically similar to us, or who have shared interests such as music or sport or culture that we can more easily identify with

At the bottom of the empathy tier are those people who have been de-humanised. In Ireland there are lots of people who refer to working class children as 'scrotes' or 'feral' or who think members of the travelling community are inherently different and enemies of their own social class

In Trumps America, there is a concerted and highly deliberate campaign being conducted right now and has been ongoing over the past decade(and beyond), to strip entire sections of society of their humanity. Homeless people, 'Democrats', 'Illegal immigrants', 'Gangs', 'Woke people', 'Transgender', 'Far Left Socialists' are all constantly declared to be unworthy of empathy and enemies who need to be defeated.

What do we see now, tens of millions of Americans can no longer empathise with people being dragged out of their cars and disappeared off the streets and sent to torture centres in the US and abroad……… We'll see anti trump political activists face the same treatment and the de-humanising efforts of this week will see those tens of millions of Americans seeing them as enemies who are directly fomenting anti trump violence and deserve to be arrested and tortured.

Careful now. Are you a woman? Because if you are, we need your husband to sanction what you say publicly. You are his property and he is ultimately responsible for you.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,555 ✭✭✭✭aloyisious

Because there are people who identify as Christian who do, differently to how Kirk said he does, judge a person's worth by what they imagine a gay person does in the bedroom, as in you're a sodomite first, a human 2nd but never a Christian.

Now if how Christian one is is to be judged by one's bedroom activities, should that rule not also be applied to Trump?

Isn't it very noticable that Kirk's appears to be the only school shooting a lot of these posters are incensed about?

Probably because they feel like the can blame the Democrats for it, whereas they can't with school shootings.

It really puts on display the fact that they don't give a f**k about life. It's more about having an "excuse" to express how much hatred they have for the left.

The trump administration are giving Putin more support for his savage war on Ukraine. His support for the mass murderer Putin is an affront to democracy. Putin knows that as long as trump is president he has nothing to fear from America.

it’s all game, hypocrisy isn’t an obstacle, it’s a useful tool to cause outrage and distraction.

Its not so much religion as Tribalism, but religion can turn tribalism up to 11 as it brings in the total absolute certainty implied by having a direct instruction from the creator of the universe who is omnipresent and omnipotent, and has the can drive people to do some pretty extreme things.

I have seen over the past 20 years that you can be just as tribal as a secular atheist as you can as a conservative religious adherent

Watching the 'new atheists' slide towards the alt right as they became entrenched in their views shows people are just as vulnerable to tribalism even if they never believe in anything supernatural.

Labelling people based on one or two properties always leads to negative outcomes. We are more than just our skin colour, age, class, income bracket, sexuality, political opinions, gender, national identity, language speaker, sports team supporter, music listener, dog lover, cat person

In his defence, they were reading names and ringing a bell every 30 seconds. That would put a meth head to sleep after about 20 minutes

They might as well have written the names on a flock of sheep and got them to jump past him over a fence

Post sums up 90% of this thread- "Here's stuff this guy said posted without context that I disagree with- So I think It's ok he was shot in the neck. This will get me loads of likes on Boards.ie." Mental

Speaking of context, I found Kirk to be a bit of a showman and disagreed with him on about 50% of what he said. disagreed strongly on about 33%. Agreed on plenty

Some of the replies here and the reaction to the Kirk murder are fascinating. To be clear, let me start out by saying the person that did this is a scumbag and murdering someone on the basis of political differences should be condemned in the highest sense. Aside from it being morally repugnant, it actually serves no purpose. Now without getting into the ideology of the shooter, if they were of the left persuasion then they have done a massive disservice to their cause because all something like this would do is the embolden the right MAGA loons. In saying that I would not be at all surprised if it turns out to be another right wing gun nut that did this for some reason. Anyway speculation over.

What does fascinate me is the reaction and hand ringing to this murder in comparison to the countless other innocent murder victims in both America and around the world. In the exact same day there was another school shooting with a fatality. Before that another democrat was targeted. The world hardly heard about those incidents. Yet remember Kirk is someone who is quoted with the following:
"I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights." and "Driving comes with a price... Having an armed citizenry comes with a price, and that is part of liberty". It is then a little ironic that someone who espoused such beliefs was then one of the statistical victims in the pursuit of this "freedom". Now, the level of outrage I've seen in the past couple of days and fake concern, far exceeds that of the innocent men, women and especially children who are struck down due to gun violence in America every day.

Also, lets cut the bullshit here in the comments from many almost canonising Kirk. He was not by any measure a nice person. He grifted in spreading hate and division and dressed it up in "debate", whereas what he was doing was more akin to brainwashing weak minded white men for the most part. He marketed in "Christofascism" and wanted all parts of life to confirm to his warped version of Christianity. He also ran from debates and topics when challenged by an "equal". Watch any of his so called campus "debates". He re-hashes the same bored taking points ("What is a woman?") and never addresses the points being made by his opposite number. It's no more clear that when his hubris made him believe he could debate in Cambridge and got his ass handed to him. Then when on a twitter rant about how crap England is and how is is so happy to be back in the good old US of A. Another great irony of his positions, is that by any measure someone as controversial as him would be far safer living in any European country. But no, the right to own guns and spew hate, trumped (pun intended) all of that. The sad thing is instead of Americans (well right wingers), copping on to the fact that they are the only western country in the world that this type of day to day gun violence happens, they will literally die on the hill of their beloved second amendment.

I've seen that quote thrown about, but again, like the "Gay people should be stoned to death" quote that was misinformation, I cannot see any source for the above in regards a black pilot.
He may have said it, but its also quite likely that its a quote lifted any utterly taken out of context.

This is the internet, people WANT to believe he said it, because then they are deep inside allowed to hate him.

supply context please so, I don't think I will get it.

You disagree with 83% of what he says, but 'agreed on plenty'. Might want to explain that bit as well, when you get a chance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,276 ✭✭✭Escapees

Not trying to take away from your main point, but if you agreed with him 'on plenty', then you clearly also disagreed with him on plenty, since 'plenty' corresponds to 50% in what you wrote above.

why is no one talking about the Irish American in detention since July! Over a 23 dollar cheque?!

“The couple were returning from a 10-day trip to Ireland. Brown was arrested for signing a bad cheque for $25 (€23) a decade ago. She was arrested and has been confined in a Kentucky detention centre operated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the US immigration agency, ever since.”

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

100%- it’s extra worrying that he’s so blatant about his support for Putin and Russia- this “peace” process is just time stalling tactic nothing more-likely arranged with Putin - there is no process - Putin has no interest in engaging - he knows he can keep going for years and bring Ukraine to its knees- why would he stop now?
it suits Trump on many levels to see Europe get sucked into a war with Russia also - he’ll wash his hands of us soon

Whilst I've no doubt they'll catch the gunman eventually, the delay in doing so is surely significant. This should have been relatively simple, especially with it having massive resources thrown at it.
This is an FBI where apparently many long-serving agents have been retired or re-assigned, and at the top level has been peopled by inexperienced Trump appointees. On it's first big test, this new FBI has been found wanting.

It's a situation which will give encouragement to any organised domestic or foreign groups who plan to mount a professional operation on US soil. (I'm assuming that the CK killing wasn't professional purely because of the gun being found, the culprits face being clearly seen, stuff like that).

The US security apparatus (FBI, CIA, military etc) will still win a lot of the time purely because of their access to unlimited funds and the best technology. But a lot of times it comes down to people, and they seem to have a clear problem here.

This is a bullshit witch hunt.

    Her tweet says:

    • She is against political violence
    • Let's not forget he was a ****

    Both valid points.

If he has developed a droop on one side of his face, on the positive side it may stop him talking out of both sides of his mouth.

If he is now using AI for these speeches, after him making so much noise over Biden and autopens it would just add to his hypocrisy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,427 ✭✭✭✭markodaly

Visa Versa… we had years of people telling us that they were not medically qualified to diagnose Biden with anything. The same people are now being Dr. Google on Trump.

**** hilarious if you ask me the about turns of people.

I don't know what there really is to talk about, honestly. This is the regime doing its thing. It's what Americans voted for.

The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.
