I got between 40 and 44 in three and around 30ish in one.

    Really? I didn't know that.

    Why is that?

While they interview the first 36, its not guaranteed that they have to fill the panel with them, right? Which would mean others who got shortlisted may get interviews.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17 compoundfactor

Sure, if they interview 36 now, maybe 20ish get on a panel for Batch 1.1.

Then another 30-40 called for Batch 1.2, which turns into another panel of 20ish.

Assuming that exhausts Batch 1, they'd shortlist another chunk from the original OOMs (those over 150 up to maybe 300, if the guesses in this thread are right) to make batch 2, rinse and repeat, etc.

Though as this is only a year panel, it would be fair to be skeptical about anything beyond Batch 1

I'm in the 90s and got mid 50s, percentage-wise, of the total marks.

Obviously everyone's 'relevant experience' is different, but FWIW I scored high 50s, percentage-wise, for that one, with roughly four year's experience as an AP and many as a HEO, with what I would have thought was very good relevant experience for the most recent five years' HEO experience, especially.

My CV/application form writing skills clearly need some work.

Is the final stage just interview or interview and presentation?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,926 ✭✭✭tea and coffee

I think NP is replying to the blended working policy for certain departments.

@TaurenDruid Listen, I know! AP 6 years, head of a team and very autonomous for last 2 at least, and still only in the 70%ile

Either there are folks who have been acting up for a decade or something, or I need to go on an application form writers retreat!

An I right in saying you did the interview from the last panel for this? Is there anything you would be willing to share on what type of presentation they asked for?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,926 ✭✭✭tea and coffee

I have done a previous PO interview but it was so long ago (pre Covid) that I don't remember, sorry.

There are a couple of people on the thread or on the previous PO thread who were placed on that panel not too long ago who would have better insight

It will be a real slap in the face for the 30 of us who were panelled following interview in November 2023 if this panel moves between now and its expiry in March 2026. I will be amazed if someone doesn't take legal action.

The purest speculation on my part, but there must have been widespread dissatisfaction with some of the POs recruited via that process.

Not the final batch, but the ones who came earlier and actually got a job overwhelmingly not being of the required standard and departments avoiding the panel for later recruitment. I've definitely seen POs really struggle when they come in at PO grade. I think certain backgrounds may appear like a good fit on paper but not translate for reality.

This time they've shortlisted on "relevant" experience and asked people to identify which areas they have relevant expertise in. Seems like they're trying to identify role fit more carefully.

When you find that retreat let me know and I'll book too. Cannot get my head around shortlisting marking. Dropped 30 places when I would regard my form as my strong point of the first two stages.

While I'm sure it's absolutely galling and frustrating to be on the current panel with no movement then have this new one come along to replace it in a few weeks, I don't see what basis there'd be for a challenge.

The basis for the challenge is that they are not following the order of debts to the external panel and there is clearly demand from departments which is being held back until the new panel is in place. Easy enough to prove.

Sorry the response that said you wouldn't get a posting in Finance or DPER

Ah, gotcha. I think you'd have your work cut out, personally, and presumably couldn't rely on help from the AHCPS. You'd need to get stats from every department. Although I suppose a PQ could achieve that, if you know a friendly TD.

there is a separate grade called PO Higher for Taoiseach’s, Finance and DPER. A separate competition will be run by PAS for that grade. They usually open it to serving POs and high scorers in the PO open competition

Has anyone done an interview under this new Capability Framework or have any idea how it would differ from the old competency based interviews?

    @TaurenDruid

    The CPSA have the data

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 251 ✭✭myk

FYI invites have issued for the first block of interviews.

36 does seem an incredibly low number for a batch, I thought in the 2022 comp they called well over 100 for the first batch.

Thanks for the heads up. Do you know what they are asking for re presentation?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3 Hobgoblin123

Do we have any idea of how many roles they might be looking to fill, and where those roles might be? (That is, apart from what they already say in the Candidate Booklet: "It is anticipated that the majority of vacancies to be filled from this competition will be in Dublin and a small number may arise in other locations.")

And do we have any idea of how it will work with PO roles in different locations? Will candidates at the top of the order of merit coming out of Stage 3 be asked for their location preferences, or will they just be offered a role that could be in any location? Do we have any sense of how any of this will work?

Thanks for any info anyone might have…

The familiarisation booklet says the OOM isn't going to be how people are assigned, that they'll be matching up skills initially and only referring to the OOM if there are two candidates deemed to be equivalently qualified. Seems like a huge amount of extra work for publicjobs and makes the smaller batch make more sense.

I also don't think there are going to be any appointments outside Dublin being realistic. Especially if they actually do end the panels from this in March.

I think it sounds like a lot of work for Public Jobs - I like that they are working on refining the process - important to get the right skill sets in the right roles.

I should be in batch 1.2 for interview - hope I get the opportunity
