My reading of the booklet was slightly different-they won't create an OOM post-interview at all. Instead it's a pass/fail and then appointments are based on skill matching. Could be wrong!

Agreed, I read it as that rather than OOM you are either successful / unsuccessful after interview.

That seems to make it even more likely that it will be to take these x number of people as having passed and slot them immediately into Presidency roles and then close the comp.

Are DPER and Department of Finance considered difficult departments to be assigned to? Anyone have experience is these two departments? Thanks

If its any help, you cant be assigned there as a PO Standard

I've heard Ag is three to four days in office, is that correct? I know DSP can have similar requirements, does anyone have insight into other departments or agencies blended work patterns?

Education and Dept Further & Higher Ed are both a minimum of 2 days a week in the office.

At PO level standard wfh arrangements are almost completely irrelevant to your own work.

A lot of time is spent in meetings and those meetings will be in person if they need to be.

You can't tell the Minister, sorry I work from home Wednesdays.

On the flip side, if it's a week or month where you're lighter on meetings/work, nobody will question it if you work from home that day. You'll have the ability to work from anywhere because you'll be expected to work from multiple locations if needed.

God, is anyone else frustrated to not get any update yet on the second stage? It's been a while and this is such a short panel. I'm 35 on the OOM and it would just be great to know if there is a next stage or not

    You got your wish JC12345

Got shortlisted but not for first round of interviews.

I wonder how many applications were reviewed and how many shortlisted? Would love that insight.

I'm not too far down so hopefully they take a 2nd batch for interview

    OOM results are out.

"We plan to invite candidates who received an order of merit up to and including 36 to Stage 3 of the selection process - Main Interview and Presentation Exercise.

It is envisaged that Stage 3 will take place during the week commencing 8th September 2025. Please note, Stage 3 of the selection process, will be held in person, at the publicjobs office, Chapter House, Abbey Street, Dublin 1."

Didn't make it into the first batch myself. Given the slowness of appointments from the last competition, I'm not too hopeful of being called subsequently, but sure we'll see!

Well done on passing - did they say how many applicants they shortlisted? or up to what OOM?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1 carefulrain

ah man, I’m just outside the batch 1cut off! I’m very happy I did well but very frustrating to just miss it. Given that the panel is expected to have a short shelf life there may not be a batch 2?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,926 ✭✭✭tea and coffee

No, they didn't. Wish they would.

Anyone over 50? Could give an indication..?

Yeah, I'm not holding my breath for a batch 2

Is there a new OOM based on a shortlisting score or is shortlisting pass/fail and the OOM for interview is based on the tests?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,365 ✭✭✭TaurenDruid

I'm well over 50 in the OOM. Seeing as anyone who passed the online tests would have their application form checked, if they reached the pass mark in all four criteria (20/50 in each), they would have been shortlisted. Doesn't mean diddly if the panel is only running until early next year, though. Interviews September. Panel formed… October? Six or so months of the panel being live. And then they either extend it (I can hope) or run a new competition.

I passed the online tests in the 300-600 OOM range and haven't heard anything about shortlisting positive or negative.

I don't think they've shortlisted all the forms.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1 bridge245

I also passed the online tests just over 200 and haven’t heard anything.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17 compoundfactor

They certainly didn’t, have to guess it was only the top 100 or so

There's a new OOM based on a shortlisting score. I dropped slightly. Expecting to be called for interview the week of the 8th.

Only 36 is an insanely low amount to be interviewing. Are we thinking there are likely to be a set batch of vacancies related to the EU presidency or what?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,698 ✭✭✭PhoenixParker

I don't think anyone will be recruited directly for the presidency. Most departments have already internally recruited senior staff for secondment and sent them off to Brussels. There might be some ad hoc backfilling of those roles from this panel.

By and large I'd expect them to want staff who know their way around the various systems & issues for EU roles, not someone brand new.

I’m near 180 but I didn’t get a message, so they didn’t call that far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17 jc123456

Unfortunately I am just outside the OOM cutoff in the early 40s. Maybe some of the first batch wont accept or withdraw

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17 compoundfactor

PAS clearly taking a different approach to this year considering they went through around 250 for Batch 1 in the 2022 comp. Probably makes a lot more sense for everyone to take it in smaller chunks and not end up with loads on a panel that last forever and goes nowhere

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 9,056 ✭✭✭Ficheall

So they emailed everyone within the first 36 (which makes sense) and some people outside the 36 but not all?
So is it that those of us who have heard nothing are likely either (un/dis)qualified or are so far down the list there's no point in hoping?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,698 ✭✭✭PhoenixParker

They shortlisted numbers 1 to 150 or thereabouts.

For those 150, they marked the application forms. There were marks out of 50 for four different criteria. Those in the top 150 who scored more than 20/50 in all four areas passed and their application form score gave them a new ranking.

At a guess 70-100 passed shortlisting.

The 36 best application forms will be interviewed in batch 1.1 in September.

37 → the rest of the 150 will be interviewed as batch 1.2 if they have more vacancies.

If they have yet more vacancies, they will shortlist more application forms and there will be a batch 2.

This panel is meant to run until early next year but it might get extended. Departments have not taken many from the last panel. Hard to know how this will go.

This batch 1.1 might be the entirety pf it or they might get passed 1000 in the original OOM.

Anyone in the top 36 care to share any further info, please?

Such as your marks in the 4 Capabilities. Total marks if you prefer discretion.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 128 ✭✭2021_AP

Can I ask was it just 4 capabilities they shortlisted off or was anything additional marked.

Over the 150 after stage 1 here so not shortlisted yet

Surprised that they are interviewing so few if im honest

Edit: it's 3 capabilities and relevant work experience.

Max 50 per capability. Qualifying score was 20.

I'm in the 40s and got roughly 70 to 75% of the total marks
