Allowing Tipp the short puck out when down to 14 men was absolutely criminal.

I know it wasn't an issue for Kilkenny when you were winning all those all Irelands with Brian Cody, but Leinster as weak as it is right now is probably doing you no favours at the moment.

It’s very likely tipp get bet by cork in the final

Cork have a famine to end and they will come in the droves like a wave which tipp will find very hard to stop similar to maybe Galway vs Waterford in 2017 it was just there time to break through again and they took it

With tipp in an all Ireland final they won’t be able to get the volume of work they got in the end of last year for 2025 to hit the ground running Clare will refresh as will Limerick and Waterford so it could be very possible tipp will be 4th in Munster next year

I can't understand how kk let tipp have so many puckouts and work it up for a simple score. As many have said time after time after time there's plenty of good kk coaches in different counties and miles ahead of what kk have.Don't anyone be fooled the job will be there for Lyng if he wants it. I'd nearly go as far as saying mark dowling would be re appointed for getting to a final. That's what we're dealing with in kk. Molloy and mossy were excellent today. Kk hurling Is at a crossroads. 1 all Ireland in 10 years across all grades. How long more will this go on?some of our puckouts again were shocking.this team has failed in a lot of big games and inst good enough.

I don't know if tj will go. Some of his frees were brilliant.really disappointed with deegan and Richie reid. How with a man up could we not push up

Should have let the goal stand as conversions from penalties in camogie is very low.had we put it over we were 3 ahead,I think their hadn't been more than 2 in it all game.very poor season again for camogie.the 3 years semis are in Nowlan pk we haven't qualified.between league ,championship and u23s we never beat cork, tipp or galway in a game this year. Also no goal scored v tipp galway or Waterford in the championship

Struggling to understand how we lost today. Players must be extremely disappointed. Tipp did not play well but Kilkenny's supposed best line coughed up 4 goals and we lost by 2 points; corner backs were off form today as was Mullen. Tipp should be much better in the final but I can't see them beating Cork, who look in a different class.

Cian Kenny, Jordan Molloy, John Donnelly, Billy Ryan, Mossy and TJ were excellent. Cian was a lynchpin and he seemed to have an injury in the last 5. The defense steadied with Blanch. Deegan will be disgusted with the critical late turnover; the resulting goal was a great but freak effort.

Fair dues to this young promising Tipp team; they persevered despite Kilkenny dominating a lot of the game and were rewarded with the breaks.

All the above is probably true but lets be honest, the future looks a lot more promising for Tipp this evening than it does for us, regardless that they will be pretty clear underdogs in the final. Obviously that can change but it is definitely the case right now.

We don't have a strong bench and it would appear management don't have a lot of faith in the bench either, think that is a big reason why we struggle in the last 10 to 15 minutes of big games this decade.

JoJohn donnelly very poor all championship and if he wasn't captain could have been taken off in nearly every game.

    Very disappointing performance, very disappointing.

I don't think management are to blame tbh. Fair enough a mistake was made in starting Shane ahead of David but everyone here agreed one deserved the chance and the other was out of form. It's grand saying Mullen and Cody should have been pulled at ht but who would you replace them with? Donnelly was on(not for long I know) and I can't remember him contributing much although it was a tough ask to be fair given our use of ball in last 10 mins. Reid and Deegan have to be made sit down and watch those last 10/15 mins and realise the frwds need better ball. Again loads of options from Ryan, TJ and Donnelly when on but skyscrapers delivered on top of Mossy and Keoghan regularly. Our best player (bar TJ) all year has been Kenny and we needed to get him into the game instead of bypassing him. Once again our distribution from puckouts was poor. At one stage I watched as frwds bunched around the 11 spot and broke into space giving at least 3 options….ball was played short. Tipp keeper was hitting space regularly while on our puckouts, the Tipp player was on top of our man by the time ball arrived.

The most annoying thing for me was the lack of work from a few of our frwds. I think it was summed up in Connolly's point….a token chase by Cody left Tipp with an overlap. Someone here mentioned Cody. He definitely would be in their ear about the team, the team , the team.

Disgraceful decision by Ray Kelly in the camogie match to pull back for a peno. The goal would have put KK 5 up.

It was mentioned on here a few times during the week that it was important to push up on the Tipp puck out in order to cut out their running game at source. Then our own puck out was brain dead again. As someone said earlier the players lost this one for us and you can’t account for coughing up vital scores due to unforced errors but I’ve said it so many times on here and I’ll say it again we looked a very poorly coached team again today .

Is there any chance at all of the game being replayed?

We don’t deserve it but to be fair I think the chances of us equalising with points rather than getting a goal would have been greatly higher. And also if we scored a goal the controversy would have been massive .

KK are going nowhere with Richie Reid.. he is not a defender... not even a first cousin to one..

Mackessy got no run.. would have thought he would have been a good target man for eoin murphy to aim at with puckouts

Ah it does yeah I suppose looking at tipp in the last 5 years they’ve come from a very low ebb to very high levels very quickly it takes a lot of things to be going right for it to happen but if we see more improvement in the underage and get the right people involved in the right roles management coaches etc things could be more positive very quickly

All the counties in Munster have been down and made a resurgence lately Clare cork Limerick tipp waterford will be next if they mind thoose minors and get them through to u20 and senior

Things will probably have to dip a bit more before they get better for kk again unfortunately

No the bench is poor there was probably only 2 starting slots up for grabs before today if there was more competition in defence and attack the overall level would be better of all the players if they know 2 lads could potentially take there spot instead of being picked everyday no matter how they perform

He’s certainly not a centre back, maybe could work in midfield. Shane Murphy is not a corner back either, doesn’t have the instincts of a corner back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,758 ✭✭✭Oíche Na Gaoithe Móire

It may be Murphy's last game. There comes a time when saving ability is over ridden by your puckout deliveries. I think his reflexes might be slowing a bit too.

I don't know the goalies around the county. But you can't carry a goalie plus Paddy Deegan a bit loose with possession.

Back around 2014 the puckout issue wasn't as critical. But Nicky Quaid changed that.

No chance. It was a scoreboard error not a refereeing error even though it affected subsequent play

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,758 ✭✭✭Oíche Na Gaoithe Móire

I was just commenting elsewhere that after 2010 Kilkenny were able to bring in Colin Fennelly and Paul Murphy who were excellent in the 2011 All Ireland. Those new players don't seem to be there now.

I posted this a couple of months ago and I haven’t seen anything to change my mind since.

I’ll take a good look tomorrow but while we made a few terrible errors late on that is so unlike Kilkenny, let’s acknowledge one thing, we were very unlucky to lose that game.

9 times out of 10 the clearance for first goal doesn’t squirt to an open Tipp player.
9 times out of 10 Murphy’s initial save for 2nd goal doesn’t end up in net
9 times out of 10 Donoghue swinging with little control shoots wide or sails over bar, instead, undershot, it loops into top corner

The scoreboard balls up put the seal on a day when almost nothing broke right for us at crucial moments.

I’m not saying we are in great shape, it’s just that some days the Gods just piss on you.

I wouldn’t care about about the scores so much, it’s the overall contribution you’d be looking at.

Donnelly was involved in the game earlier on, but faded. Mullen, bar the two points, was anonymous. Cody made some good runs but was obviously not right, the touch was awful as was the ability to make the ball stick.

I think whoever is in charge next year is going to have to make sure Donnelly and Mullen make more direct runs at goal, time and again, game after game, Ryan, TJ and Mossie get on a diagonal ball and neither Donnelly nor Mullen were making a run towards goal to make a goal opportunity. Molloy and Kenny did make a few runs, Kenny especially, but you can’t be relying on the midfield to do the HF line’s job.

Mullen and Donnelly hang back too much for the easy point, they simply don’t run off the shoulder and bear down on goal. It’s hard to break teams down when you don’t get men forward.

Same happens every year. We get to a semi or final and Reid gets exposed year after year. General consensus is he is not good enough and everyone agrees. Miraculously every year he goes back in at 6 for league and Leinster we play nobody and he looks great . De Ja Vue. Paddy Deegan has been getting cleaned in big games in Croke Park the last 8 years. Just not good enough, move them on now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 426 ✭✭jamesbond2022

I know he was injured for a long spell but j Donnelly has looked like a tired player this year I think a bit of break would be no harm he has a lot of hurling done the last few years

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,429 ✭✭✭randd1

No, and it would be extremely petty, stupid and utterly pathetic of us to make it an issue at all.

2/3 points down, it didn’t matter, we needed a goal anyway to get something out of the game.

It was our own poor defending, poor attacking and fanning on the ball that cost us, not the score-keeping.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 182 ✭✭Box to box

Murphy shotstopping definitely slipping. Some of the puckouts are awful

Bad enough giving up puckouts and let them up to score but to not push up In the last 10 mins was scandalous

There's no ifs or buts about it kk are a shockingly coached team. Tom mullally, herity,Eddie brennan would be ahead of what's on the kk line

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,389 ✭✭✭blackcard

I think it is time for a few changes. Eoin Murphy has been a great servant to Kilkenny but his puckouts are not good enough. Derek Lyng has had his chances, time for new coaches. We have to find a centre back and move on from Richie Reid. Paddy Deegan is a wholehearted player but uses the ball poorly

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 182 ✭✭Box to box

Listening to the interview our chairman gave earlier in the year I wouldn't have a whole lot of confidence In big changes being made and ideas and changes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37 BORO BILL

John Donnelly had a great first half today, don’t know what game you watching, He was involved in a number kk scores and worked his socks off . You should stick to the camogie doubt you know much about that either.
