I imagine the larger battery model might be more in demand so easier to nab the small 42 kw. Yes Vin no assigned is good sign. What colour did you order PGE?

Just back from a test drive, what a nice little car. But from what the dealership is saying best of luck getting one this year. Lucky to maybe get a white one in October. Shame

White so it shouldn't really be a wait as I expect that is produced in bigger numbers.

Even if the dealer rang us now, I'd be waiting until 1st July and get a 252 reg so we haven't been chasing them for a couple of weeks now.

Any chance you might put up the link to them please digitaldr ?

Ordered on the 14th May (Elegance, Buttercream). Checked in with dealer last week and he said it was due in the country on the 16th June. Plan is to pick it up on the 1st July.

IIRC, our dealer said the Buttercreams were coming in sooner… Khaki Green was the next soonest he could see after that.

so you’re saying they’re not taking the car from you and listing in on the website to sell to someone else, because you’re not picking it up in June.

    Imagine that :)

    A revolutionary model 😂

this is one reason I’ve never “ordered” a new car (i.e. specifying colour, trim etc - nice as that might be) - I’m impatient!🤣

the other reason is price - there’s no way I was going to pay full price because I’m a skinflint 😆, it’s a lot of money, and EV values crash when they drive off the dealer forecourt, and generally I always like to get the best price (i.e. big discount!) and ordering a new car basically means surrendering to the sales guy because he knows he’s got you (he may offer a small discount or some freebies but it won’t be a hill of beans…)

I’d already decided I wanted an 02 (‘Elegance’) to get the spec and was happy with the ‘free’ default Ivory paint (or white) because:

    • in hot weather (like we’re getting now in Blighty) white reflects heat - that’s good for the battery
    • white doesn’t attract attention (I don’t want to be targeted)
    • white is a ‘safe’ colour (visibility) and paintwork is generally resilient
    • I think the Inster styling, which can seem seem overly fussy at front+rear, is ‘calmed down’ by plain Ivory/white with the black plastic trimming and blacked rear windows, and specifically the 02 (with the roof rails, 17” wheels and blacked A-pillars) looks good in this colour
    • the exposed door frame paintwork inside blends in seamlessly with the interior trim (to my eye the Sienna Orange, which I love!, is ‘jarring’ and looks wrong being exposed inside)

So I scanned A/Trader daily, looking for pre-reg/dealer demos until I spotted a used 02 with nearly £5k off list and no attached ‘finance’ plan (be aware most of these ‘discounts’ are only with higher interest finance, never with Hyundai’s ‘0%’ 3 year +£1,000 discount deal - which to be fair is not a bad deal). So I phoned, interrogated the sales guy (pre-registered 3 weeks before with just over 400 miles on the clock, ‘as new’ condition +full warranties less 3 weeks) and basically did the deal on the phone and drove it home one week later

So there are deals out there if you’re prepared to scan daily and don’t mind being the second owner

    Here you go:

There's lots of sellers - I usually go for one who has lots of sales.

We ordered an Atlas White Elegance 49kWh last 4th of June. We were given the VIN today and was told delivery will be around first week of July.

Searched the VIN and manufacturing date was 2025-05-23, so it was already built even before our order. There's someone in facebook group that mentioned there's a ship (Morning Lisa) expected to arrive at Tilbury port on 1st of July that departed Korea 26th of May.

So practically brand new and barely used. Well done. The best way to buy.

    Peace and long life.

out of curiosity I’ve just checked the Leeds dealer’s website and they’re listing another pre-reg 02 (Elegance) in Buttercream with just 100 miles at £21,500 cash - even better than my deal! (it was in the showroom when I collected my car last month and I had a good look at it - sadly it doesn’t have the the snazzy ‘houndstooth’ trim which I think would have matched the paint very well)
I think the ‘takeaway’ is that Hyundai UK dealers are under pressure to ‘move metal’ and that’s why there are some great deals

Really happy with what this car can do:

    1. Mobile air-conditioned office: writing my niece’s birthday card on the folded passenger seat ‘table’ while sitting in the back was easy
    2. ‘Bed’ configuration tested (had a hospital visit and wasn’t sure if I’d be able to drive home straight after) - it was actually very comfortable using a collapsible bed mattress with ‘Utility’ powering the a/c and media
    3. Car park was full but no problem - this car is so narrow it squeezed into a tight corner that no other cars could!

Can I ask how £21,500 is a good deal for a pre registered car? After you exchange to Euro and add on import taxes would it not be cheaper to just buy one here?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 150 ✭✭EV01

ah, sorry, I introduced myself a page or so back as living in UK (Worcestershire) and asked if it was OK to join in here - and maybe there are other UK contributors too?
Fact is £5k off list for an 02, registered 2 weeks ago with 100 miles on the clock, is a great deal in the UK (best I’ve seen) for those, like me, who are happy to be the 2nd owner with such a big saving.
I’m not au fait with UK/Ireland export / import rules (it has an EU Certificate of Conformity so it is compliant in EU countries) but it would interesting to know how prices compare and any differences in the specs? Also whether the hassle of import / export might be worthwhile?

Edit to add:…”and one more thing” (Columbo style) it seems pretty clear that demand in Ireland exceeds supply (waiting lists) which doesn’t seem to be so in UK?

Sounds great. That is nice parking alright. I hope getting out of that spot was not too bad.

yeah, I felt unreasonably pleased with myself 🤣

Fortunately by the time I got back to the car the one to the left had gone so it was a doddle 😊

Spotted five new Insters in Galway Hyundai Service area yesterday.

    2 x white, 1 x Black, 1 x Orange & 1 x launch edition.

Perfect car for my mother if she would ever consider electric, replace her old Corsa. Id love her to have one, and id say she'd love it but resistant to change even though they've charger and all at home..

Would be the cheaper ones at just over 20k, anything else she'll just see as too expensive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,558 ✭✭✭joe1303l

Sounds like you’d be much better off buying an Inster in Ireland and bringing it back to the UK as a personal import ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,791 ✭✭✭✭User1998

I imagine the grants here wouldn’t apply to export customers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,558 ✭✭✭joe1303l

Not an issue if the customer picks up a demo model here similar to what they intend to purchase in the UK.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,791 ✭✭✭✭User1998

Fair point. Not sure what the double VAT situation would be tho.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,558 ✭✭✭joe1303l

I’m not sure either but a trader would definitely manage to claw back one VAT rate if paying another one. £21,500(€24,700 approx) for a used Inster should be easy to better.

here’s the current ‘pre-reg’ UK ad I mentioned:

if you could post some current ‘pre-reg’ Ireland ads we can then do a comparison 😊

Edit to add: seems this forum won’t allow links to car listings ☹️

Not a good deal for anyone here in Ireland. The poster is UK based so it’s expensive based on Irish prices.

5k off is about right for anyone walking out with a new car and trying to sell it to owner number 2. If anything id say it was still overpriced as a second have second owner car.

It has a lot of devaluing to do.
