So are there robo-mowers that don't need these guide wires that can still cut several distinct/separate areas?

Yes, they use satellite based or mobile phone tower location technology to map & mow your garden. They are better suited to your proposed setup of rear & 2 front garden zones. Downside for you is they are significantly more expensive than the Lidl mower.

Brands to look for are Mammotion, Segway and Ecovacs.

@ongarite Good to know. That would be a better solution. Do you happen to know what the cheapest non-perimeter wire option is? I guess if I can't justify it now, these things will become more affordable if I hold off a year or two…

Whats the total square meters of all your lawns combined?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,607 ✭✭✭makeorbrake

    @yabadabado Probably around 84m2.

If thats the case ,then the Yuka Mini 600 would be ideal.

it will cover 600 square meters and has no wire and will travel between zones.

Its €850 direct from the manufacturer.

There are probably plenty more options but I was researching for a relative with a similar set up as yours,3 separate lawns and it ticked all the boxes for them

A lot of knowledgeable people on this thread and I'm sure they can advise you.

    hi folks,

I bought 2 of these too mowers when they came in a few weeks ago. 1 is out our back garden performing admirably, and the 2nd is to bring over to Lithuania this summer (driving over). I only got around to unboxing the 2nd one today in order to pack it and the accessories more efficiently when the time comes, and discovered the front corner has a crack on the outside shell!!

    IMG_6046.jpeg IMG_6049.jpeg IMG_6050.jpeg

It looks like it would still do a job as is, but I can’t imagine that corner lashing too long when it’s numbing into trees/walls/fences etc….

Does anyone know the best route for contacting them regarding a replacement, which I assume they’d cover?

There is also this, a lot cheaper that the yuka mini

Yeah the Yuka Mini is overkill for the size of lawn to cut.

    That could be ideal.

Just bumping this, has anyone had the trapped when it's not actually trapped error....I tried repositioning the charge station etc but no joy

Is it a case of ask Lidl for my money back or is it something obvious....mower backs out of charge station about 4 or 5 inches and then says its trapped....it has the 2 m straight in front of charge station etc more than 1 metre behind etc etc

If I lift the mower and start it away from the charge station in the lawn not to far away from charge station it will complete a session and Dock itself most of the time but be back saying its trapped the next morning..

Can't for the life of me figure out the issue...I thought it was the way docking station was positioned (even though it worked grand for 4/5 weeks from that position???....Is it detecting an obstacle where there isn't one via some sensor

Anyone had their robot lawnmower seemingly reset itself. I've had it happen twice now. Once when it was being setup which I just put down to not finished the configuration. But it happened again yesterday. I have the lawnmower setup with wifi. When I looked at the app it was showing no schedule set and pin showing as default. When I checked the lawnmower it was parked in the base station but was powered off. I powered it on and it asked me for the language and to set a pin etc. The strange thing though was it was connected to wifi - I didn't have to set that up again so I could actually then configure everything else via the app. Hopefully won't keep happening.

    Hi everyone I have the
PMRDA 20-Li A1 on its second cutting season.
On the 2nd June 25 it did any auto update of the firmware itself and its now on version v 04.10.
Since the update the mower is getting a Motor Overcurrent error after mowing grass for 1.5 hours every time I send it out to cut.
I have checked the mower cutting disk / deck and there is no debris blocking the disk as well and looking at motors for the wheels that look ok visually from outside.
I didn't disconnect the wiring and take the motors out of there fixed position.
The mower was working perfectly before the update.
Any advice from anyone would be much appreciated?
    Thanks.

I have a newly purchased model this year and had the exact same thing on the same date. Coincidentally I was adjusting the schedule the evening before so thought it was something I did. But it looks like it was a firmware update.

Seems like a big improvement also, I'm now getting 5+ hours from a charge. The patterns seem to have changed slightly, but not sure I can express how but it seems a little less random. I am still in the process of adjusting the wire but following the update the unit suddenly stopped getting stuck in a problem spot (previously happening at least once a day).

On the negative side, even though it seemingly wiped settings following the update, it is ignoring new schedule and work times and still following the old settings.

I bought one 5 weeks back the 500 version. Never got round to doing anything with it. I can't find the receipt. Is it a hassle to return without it?

I have a new one unopened with the receipt. It's past the 30 days but I presume they'll take it back?

First of all thanks to the folks that replied to my original post. I decided to give the mower a chance and turned it on today for the first time. Selected a language, set the date/time, and assigned a pin. Immediately afterwards it gave me an error "Loop signal lost". Pressing any button just takes me back to the pin entry screen. There's no chance to get to the main menu.

I have not laid down the wire yet. I was hoping I could do the first steps without having to do that. Like run a "spot" mow first to make sure this thing actually works.

Is there a workaround? Tried to submit the same question to the contact form at the grizzlytools.de site but got an error there as well. This all doesn't bode well.

You need to setup the boundary wire and connect it to the base station for the mower to work

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,407 ✭✭✭iwb

I haven't seen this error and I don't know what it means but just wondering if it's possible there's underground mains cables or any other source of disturbance that might cause it? Someone told me recently that their mower stopped in the same place all the time and they eventually figured out the main power running underground to the house was under that part of the garden.

Tks, I'll check out if there's anything routed under...the frustrating this is it now appears to work somehow the time...it won't out this morning, then back to charge, ygrn out again eithout incident...other times it goes a couple of inches and then declares its trapped...other times it turns back into the boundary, reversers goes forward, reverses again, then declares its trapped

I've tried setting it to mow zones/no of metres away from base clockwise this eve to see if that sorts it as well

Bit of an ask i know but would anyone have a spare base station or charger? My charger **** itself so got onto customer service. They said they are waiting on stock. We are heading away for 2 months at start of July so starting to get worried it won't arrive before we go.

    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,953 ✭✭✭Raoul

    How did that happen?

All of a sudden yesterday my charger started tripping the circuit breaker. No idea why. I did get a warning on the mower a couple of times saying replace the adapter.

where are you? If it’s unopened I think I know someone who’d buy it off you.

Anyone know where I can buy a suitable roll of replacement wire? Would need to be ~150m long. Have had to repair the existing one a couple of times and now I'm starting to get intermittent loop errors so I'm hoping to just lay new wire

if you scroll back through the thread someone has tracked it down.

The likes of Amazon sell various lengths etc. This is the set I bought to replace mine last year and it is working well ever since.
