there was plenty skill in that tear up. Folks sometimes pigeon hole the term skill. As if it’s meant to be very clean, clinical, aesthetically pleasing etc.

I think when people see some awkwardness and “sloppiness” during times in fights, they then ridicule it as a lack of technique and skill. But that can happen any fighter due to styles clashing.

Some of the defending and countering off defence from both lads last night (whilst late in the fight and tired in the fight) was exceptional. That’s skilled performers.

One poster said they could fight but could not box, as if boxing is only a set routine in some way. Silly stuff. Boxing is a mix of so much, and skills in several areas.

well Eubank v Benn was a good laugh, quite entertaining spectacle really and I thought Eubank was the better of the two men he was watching the clock to do a flurry of punches to the end of the rounds which is a good tactic.

Benn tired himself out fighting on emotion and not boxing, he didn’t show anything new tonight and is the same old slugger he’s always been but didn’t have the power to finish a drained Eubank

With any luck that’s the end of it now and Eubank can retire a richer man than last week and Benn gets smashed by a live opponent

If they do have a rematch, Eubank should insist on no rehydration clause. Maybe demand the flights at 163 or something as well.

I’m guessing tbe rematch details have been set in place

Yeah loved the main event , felt like a proper big fight.

I knew it wasn't going to be Bivol v Betervbiev when it comes to quality , but it was a really good scrap and would be happy for a rematch.

The rest of the card though, not sure. Mc Kenna was excellent, Yarde v Arthur was very dull. Billam Smith is a warrior but the most exciting of watches , while Viddal v Clarke I can't remember lol.

Eddie Hearn had already suggested that Eubank should come down further in any rematch

    That's putting it mildly.

He is a complete and utter prick.

Turki has just said the rematch is on for late September in the same venue, Ben shalom said terms are already agreed and signed for the rematch

excellent points made. Skill, heart, fitness, drama. Everything you want. Even if he won Eubank is in hospital since, that fight took a lot out of him.
if Bivol and Beterbiev stood toe to toe and went at it then many would proclaim this the best, most exciting ever fight. If you don’t like these two boys then you’ll find a way to detract.
I think of Ward Gatti. It got crude enough but you never hear of anyone talking about the skill level.
people doing that are just missing the point.

Big weekend of boxing ahead with 3 significant cards. Hard to see any of the expected winners not doing so. Has anyone watched much of William Skull? Cuban you'd imagine some decent technical abilities but doesn't seem to have much power

according to Nigel Benn his some smashed skull to bits in sparring and made him quit

What time are these fights on this weekend in Times Square and Saudi?

Middle of the night for us?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 59,714 ✭✭✭✭walshb

NYC is tomorrow night on DAZN PPV. It will be 01:00-02:00 type time here on Saturday morning.

The Saudi card with Canelo is usual Saudi time that we’re used to. Circa 22:30 Irish time Saturday night. It’s also DAZN PPV

Edit: Canelo fight time is 06:00 Saudi time Sunday morning. 04:00 for us

Does anyone on here actually subscribe to Dazn on a monthly basis?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 59,714 ✭✭✭✭walshb

I do. But not getting value really. I’m missing fights. Subscribed years now. 15 euro per month

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,785 ✭✭✭Dick phelan

I was thinking about it but they are taking the piss with PPV, 3 in two weeks. God forbid they give you something for your subscription.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 59,714 ✭✭✭✭walshb

yup. Thinking exact same. I will be thinking twice now about continuing. All the “big” fights they’re screwing us subscribers by PPV..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,785 ✭✭✭Dick phelan

Wasn't one of the big selling points upon its launch, No more PPV. I'd seriously love to know what the PPV numbers for Benn vs Eubank were in America, big fight this side of the water but over there, I'd doubt it hit 50k buys

It was 620k worldwide and I'd go further than.you, I'd be shocked if there was 30k buys in the US.

I cancelled my subscription but then saw they were offering €84 for a yearly subscription so I took them up on that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,331 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

Alvarez 1/50, Garcia 1/12, Haney 1/12, Inoue 1/50 ..nothing to exciting their lol.

Teo looks like he is in a close fight and tbf Bakole's return I am curious about.

I was happy enough to see Canelo in Saudi as I thought we would get a normal start time but 4am ? No thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 59,714 ✭✭✭✭walshb

Yup. See this now. But it’s 120 euro now for annual..still I’ll make a saving on the 180 per year I’m currently paying.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 985 ✭✭✭Butson

How many people in the UK/Ireland / Europe are going to buy that pay per view in the middle of the night tonight?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,785 ✭✭✭Dick phelan

It's actually not on as late as I thought. It's not a long card either, the prospects fight is out of the way. On to the real action now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,331 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

Jesus Christ, the Haney fight is one of the most boring I have ever seen.

The Teo fight was fine, but need a fun main event to save this card.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 59,714 ✭✭✭✭walshb

delighted Garcia got beaten. Social media hype job. He’s like a watered down version of Amir Khan. Ridiculously basic. And a 🔔 end as well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,785 ✭✭✭Dick phelan

Lopez was impressive last night. Heaney was boring and not all that impressive. Garcia deserved that loss. Heaney and Garcia both very overrated by the look of it. Absolutely scuppers the plan for a rematch between them.

Poor enough night tbh, the crowd was lifeless which didn't help, and the main event was poor enough, Garcia needs to go back on the PEDS it seems.
