why would she have to be 40? Ellie was born after the disease had taken hold

I forgot about the time elapsing between the original outbreak and Joel first encountering Ellie, so my mistake.

Really solid episode. So many scenes reminded me of the opening of the game.

I had to look up how old Bella Ramsey is, can’t believe she’s 21, I thought she looked a bit young to be playing TLOU 2 Ellie.

I think she’s a good actress but there’s something a bit off about her performance and I don’t feel she quite gets to the Ellie of the game.

Same as, I think it's a real shame regarding the casting of Bella as Ellie.

Well I'm watching it as someone who didn't play the game, and I can't stand Ramsey.

Just doesn't have a likeable persona, though the show is still good.

I wouldn't continue watching a show where I didn't enjoy the actors, or found them a constant source of irritation.

For example, I am a huge Ann Rice fan, and there is a series currently being made based on her book series "The Mayfair Witches". I feel the lead actress was miscast, and I really dislike her in the role. As a result, I just don't watch it.

If someone hates Bella Ramsey as Ellie so much, why do you keep watching? I could understand if it was a small part / not main character, but Ellie is a/the main character?

There was plenty of chatter online about these 2 possibly being cast to match the game visuals:

    wow-how-cailee-spaeny-looks-like-ellie-at-this-comparison-v0-ctmk76lrgmgd1.jpg d89e8-16060248391167-800.jpg

    Cailee Spaeny

    And

    Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

Bella Ramsey is an award winner with HBO history (Game Of Thrones). Her character may seem annoying now but it will pay off later. Stick with it.

Kaitlyn Dever (Abby) was cast as Ellie a few years back when TLOU was being made into a film but it fell apart and then when the tv show was being made, they wanted Kaitlyn but she was too old then to play 14 year old Ellie. They still wanted her to be part of it so was cast as Abby.

Great 2nd episode. Im liking the changes while keeping the important scenes / best lines. FYI Ellie's character is much less "annoying" in this ep.

Well that's the only small reason left for me to watch this gone now.

I'm not a massive fan, but enjoyed the first series. It's about as subtle as a sledgehammer in some scenes. Homophobia is bad, I hope everyone knows that now. The chase scenes from episode 2 were great, as well as the attack on the The Wall by the wildlings…oh wait, wrong show.

But I'm wondering about the trailer for this series. From recollection there's a clip where Bella has a go at Joel over, I presume, his killing spree at the hospital and how he lied to her, or words to that effect. As this scene isn't in the first two episodes I'm guessing it's a flashback scene that explains the animosity between them and therefore Joel will be seen again on screen at some point?

The way they've portrayed Ellie so far in season 2, she's grabbing all the guns, getting on a horse and following the five of them while their tracks are still visible. She's not gonna go back to Jackson. But… reasons.

    Didn't see that coming !!!

Disappointed now. Where will this go ??

Was that the " King Zombie" that was overdone ?? 😬

There was a similar infected last season, during the attack when Joel & Ellie were with Henry & Sam. It's called a Bloater; essentially an infected who the cordyceps has grown so thick and solid that it's like armour, so a lot more difficult to kill. It's also more likely to kill a human rather than try to infect.

    Basically, a big nasty b*stard.

glad I knew this was going to happen at some point, if only because some sites aren't very good with spoilers. Like saying things like "Shock at major death". In a series with only 2 major characters, that's not a good tease. I never saw any trailers but I assume there was a death teased which is why they had multiple possibilities with the attack on the town.

Speaking of the attack, was there any reason for them all to attack, considering they were all chasing after Joel & co then sufddenly they were all running towards the town. And if there's one thing everyone knows about infected, is try and remain quiet. Even though they're not all blind, ringing a loud bell probably doesn't help. And i know bloaters are defnitely blind, yet this one seemed to do okay.

Respect to them for doing it when they were supposed to. I thought they were going to drag it out when the announced they were splitting the season.

    Bella has this.

No Pedro, no party. Ellie & Abby aren't likeable or interesting enough to keep me watching.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,164 ✭✭✭✭expectationlost

How is it that none of Abby's group know what was going on with Ellie in in Salt Lake?

Was Abby not curious why Joel shot her doctor dad dead ? and what operation he was doing?

He'll be shown in plenty more episodes if it follows the game.

Have seen plenty online saying they're done with the show now.

As for my question about why they attacked, I saw someone comment it was due to the fact I forgot that was mentioned in season 1 about the fungus alerting infected when anyone touches it. They all started swarming around the time the pipe was broken open.

I am getting a strong whiff of misogyny off this thread.

If you're referring to my post, it couldn't be further from the truth. Just don't like the main female characters.

    Don't worry ...

Another great episode although I wasn’t looking forward to the scene where Abby kills Joel.

So far they’re sticking closely to the game in fairness.

Only thing I’m not getting is the fungus in the pipes stuff. Does it have any implications in terms of the infected attacking the town?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,070 ✭✭✭EltonJohn69

Brutal and vicious. So many people were upset with the makers of the game when it was released, people are going to be upset all over again. I think it showed mature story telling rarely seen in gaming.

Yeah they established in the first season that when the fungas has spread through those tendril-like things, disturbing the tendrils means that it can essentially "wake up" any infected who are touching another part of the tendrils up to about a mile away. So if any infected were touching another part of that tendril up to about a mile away, those infected then know there's living people there.

So the live tendrils in the pipe woke up hundreds of infected nearby and led them to try get into Jackson.
