That season he hit 35 - most of those appearances were the 1st half of the season. He's been injured constantly since.

Nobody's talking about giving him away for free. The point is why would you bother talking about him being let go? Who is going to sign him on his wages when he's always injured?

And he's not joining until the summer of 2026. So you'd have to out bid whatever they offered to get him this summer.

Dalot though you can nearly count as an academy player in terms of PSR. Selling him will bring you pure profit. If he's not gonna be first choice then he's someone that if sold will allow you room to strengthen the squad.

Pretty sure they are meant to be getting similar losses to United and struggling with PSR.

I remember them making a lot of big transfers with longer than usual contract lengths so can spread the cost on the books over more years but that will catch up with them. Mudryk & Fernandez are 8 years for example.

Selling academy players like Mount, Gallagher & more probably helping to keep them above board too. They tend to buy younger too so probably don’t take as many hits when selling on non-academy players like an older squad might.

There's more likelihood of him injuring himself on the bench than making a run of games.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

And an 8 year contract with Chelsea paying his full salary while he's on loan with them next season.

That's a mad deal and one we wouldn't have even entertained being honest.

Dalot should not be sold under any circumstances, he is exactly the type of squad player we need. Can play either side, is never injured and goes about his business quietly with no fuss. He might not be a world beater but he rarely lets us down. Can understand why we sold mctominay but he was another we should have kept for his versatility, availability and attitude.

Time is contagious, everybody's getting old.

I have to agree with this and I moan about Dalot on a weekly basis but he is a super professional and seems to like being at the club. He doesn't make loads of mistakes but doesn't do loads of outstanding things either. His last couple of games he does seem to progress the ball better on the right than he does on the left.

Was thinking the same, there is just no way they could be legitimately PSR compliant.

As others have said too, his relatively poorer performances this season can't be helped by how much he has been run into the ground minutes-wise

A definite keeper for squad player - great attitude, excellent versatility, and superb injury record. The guy must be made of titanium to outdo our injury track record! Also seems a popular guy in the squad.

Just to add to the current discourse, Dalot wouldn't be in the top 10 guys I'd be selling this summer. We aren't in a position to be selling on modern day Phil Neville

His crosses constantly let his team mates down.

Agree with those who said Dalot is worth keeping for his versatility, lack of injuries and value as a squad player. The other thing to consider is that he has been vastly overplayed over the last couple of seasons and if occasionally rotated would likely be putting in better performances. Even with being overplayed I don't think he has been at all as bad as some here suggest. He's no world beater but he isn't hopeless either.

It's a Portuguese thing, him and Bruno are on another level for minutes played.

For anyone with a subscription to The Athletic, there is a really good analysis of the game last night and describing how united change formation under RA and how it forced the opposition to try and adapt. It was nice to read something that wasn't just lazy blaa blaa 343.

They've been allowed to sell hotels they own to themselves. It's a madness.

Which crosses? The one that found Bruno for the goal in the first leg? Maybe the one earlier in that game he found Bruno 8 yards out in the middle of the goal? The one that found Mazraoui against Arsenal? The one to Zirkzee on Thursday? That's the last 3 games he's set up major chances. Maybe there are other ones he's let them down with? He should be perfect I guess...

As much as Dalot annoys me at times, I agree on his benefit as a squad player, backup for a first choice wing back on either side.

Plus although he'd be pure profit from a financial POV, I can't see him making that high of a fee that it would be worth losing him. And he's not on a stupid wage.

If someone came in with £50m then cheerio. Not gonna happen though.

Think the Dalot conversation is a bit skewed in a way. He's been forced to play at LB for so long, far too long, that people judge him on that, when his actual natural position is RB.

And a solid right back he is.

Id rather see sim sold to fund someone for the starting 11.

It's be happy to sell Dalot but have no qualms with him as back up RB. Hopefully United push on for this Roger Fernandez chap to competent with dalot. Seemingly similar stats to Quenda and a fraction of the price.

Would allow Kamason time to develop potentially

I haven’t read much here of late so apologies if already mentioned..

Would Amad’s best position not be deemed RWB by most? I think he offers a big threat from there. Maybe it’s too attacking with Dorgu and Amad on the wings.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,049 ✭✭✭✭johnnyryan89

Keeping Dalot as a squad player would be a no brainer if we had a decent squad that only needed one or two players but United need more than one or two players. You've also got Dorgu, Amad, and Mazraoui that can play RWB if Roger Fernandez is brought in.

Amad's best position would likely be as one of the things. Think his ability to force turn overs in the final third should see him played as a ten.

But definitely an option at RWB. If Mount could stay fit wouldn't mind seeing both play on that right side.

Dalot is not the worst player in the squad by any means, and he's usually available for selection which is something Man Utd can't seem to buy at the moment.

His technical skills are terrible but that seems the norm now. Athletic players drilled on systems and formations with no time to work on technical skills like crossing or shooting.

So glad he's done with the club.

You get the sense RA wants Mount fit and in his first team. He would be an improvement on Garnacho in one of the 10 roles.

He may want it but it's just not going to happen.
