Ref was my man of the match....we usually don't get much from officials but tonight he definitely was on our side...we do seriously need to sign strikers that can finish…it would make a huge difference

Brilliant performance from Heaven, we may have an excellent player on our hands for years to come. So confident and mature for his age.

Just £1m we paid for him too 🤯

I wonder if we could get that ref to officiate some of our games in the premier league.

United old boy Mourinho beaten by Barry Ferguson, great result for the Gers!

Thought that was an excellent performance from United, so many players were really on it.

De Ligt, Heaven, Casemiro all had very good games. Dorgu was excellent too, constant threat and draws loads of fouls. His shooting was cack though, a theme for the team.

Thought Zirkzee was excellent aside from his finishing although to be fair the keeper made a great save from his late effort. Garnacho had a better game although his decision making is still lacking. Better on the right than the left though. Hojlund as others have said had a great game even without scoring, that assist was superb.

And what can you say about Bruno. He's taken a shed load of criticism and then puts in a performance like that. Outstanding.

PS Dalot is still a donkey. Imagine how much better we'd be if we had another Dorgu on the right!

Thought there was some very nice football triangles and movement in this

Dorgu I think the most is he's showing Amorim style on what he wants ideally either side of the pitch.

There's a lot to be desired here in the making.

De-light was brilliant in being the centre cb. No doubt coached the 2 beside him

Welp, United miss out on their apparent priority rwb target with Chelsea swooping in for quenda. Bitterly disappointing as it doesn't paint our recruitment efforts in a good light.

Come on Mitch can we have at least one day to enjoy some positivity!

Time is contagious, everybody's getting old.

Yeah, if the club allow it! We just going to ignore missing out on a player we apparently thought we had in the bag? A key target from the managers former club, and we still get blindsided.

Maybe he didn't want to join us, can hardly blame him

Theres surely a less experienced more expensive kid in Serie A. Be grand.

There were reports a few weeks back that this deal was agreed with the player.

Very disappointed to be caught with our dick in our hand again

Fair play to them getting the medical done in secret. Interesting, it ain't this summer they're getting him. So Jan or summer 2026

    What a player

We know he’s no Szoboszlai but what a boy he is for us.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,468 ✭✭✭FrankN1

He's been our best player since he joined. Never understood any of the hate he got. One of the best players in the league.

This is what happens when you believe everything you read.

I'd imagine every club was interested in him, united were also reported to have sent scouts to watch him in February if that's true I doubt they had agreed a deal with the player.

I don't think we will see many 50m signings this summer and if we do it will more than likely be on a goal scorer.

United are going to miss out on players when they are trying to get wages in order. Other clubs are not acceptable concerned about their wage bill and can offer players a lot more quicker.

Edit: just wrong the reported offer won't even see the player join Chelsea until 2026 and it's a 7+1 year contract they are offering. Not a deal United should be matching anyway.

Looks like we've dodged a bullet with that one then. If he had agreed to come to UTD and then reneged because Chelsea come waving a bag in front of him then he's not a player I want to see at the club anyway.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

Heaven and Dorgu also show that United need some smart signings and that the list of players that can improve this squad is not a short list.

No doubt the team needs another player or two that brought what Bruno did when he arrived but overall squad level can be improved by many players.

There is no need to make poor, almost desperate moves, like Antony or have a fixation on one player like Sancho.

Had a personal preference for an upgrade at RWB to be right-footed so I’m not bothered. Won’t be able to get every wonderkid, especially at that price.

Chelsea willing to pay that on a player to immediately loan back. Chelsea aren’t short players but would think he’d be straight in the squad given his versatility if he would warrant reasonable game time. He may turn into a brilliant player yet but United need to prioritise.

As I've said previously, Quenda is 17 and has little to no goal involvements in his career. He would be a downgrade in the short term on Dalot so wasn't going to change much. Dalot with a full preseason after a proper rest I think would be a fine option on the right. It's the left I'd still be looking at as Dorgu is very raw even if he has promising attributes (crossing and shooting not them though) and there's nobody to play there if he's injured/suspended except Dalot.

Thankfully we appear to have moved past that and are going after the right type of player rather than a big name.

Next season united first team squad could and should include Heaven, Yoro, Dorgu, Mainoo, Toby C, Obi, Amad, Garnacho, Diego Leon and that's not even considering kone and kukonki who may not be ready. That's 11 players under 23 and under that could be around first team squad. Some could go out on loan I'd like to see Obi get some game time a lower level.

More then likely we will add another couple younger players but we also need some experienced players that can play the system. It's going to be a fairly young team eitherway.

Someone in the CL thread was saying he was better. Or Bruno wouldn’t start ahead of him or something.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,441 ✭✭✭The Big Easy

Also no United player in the England squad (bar Rashford)

Can't be many squads in living memory with no active United players

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,528 ✭✭✭fatherted1969

We're not paying £50M for a FB anytime soon. There's lots of positions we'll need to pay that sort of money but I don't see us paying much in that position. Why overhaul the backroom team with people who are good at this then continue to waste money in every position ? Expect lots of left field signings coming in with the occasional big signing, this is the way we're going for the foreseeable future

I'm surprised Maguire didn't make the squad. Due back at the weekend so figured he could be in it and has just not been selected.

I think that position is the 2nd most important after striker. The difference between dalot and dorgu last night was stark.

Now, if he is going after the money rather than us dicking around then better off without him.
