Saw that earlier. Suspected they had given the dialogue towards the end of the run but great to get it confirmed. Job done.

Am I right in a saying 2024 ranks as the top year now donation wise by a good chunk?

It is indeed the highest for any one single year. They say as much on the website. Some uplift from 2022 & 2023!

Some comeback considering they were off the pace in 2022.

Who would have thought we were so affluent in 2024?

I wonder will they do another 3 year multi-partner or back to the single one?

who knows. My guess though is that they'll go back to a single one again this year.

The ChristmasFM crew are having their Christmas party night tonight and ya couldn’t think of a more deserving crew than that lot.

I hope they have a great night and even better hangover tomorrow.

Saw the pic on Instagram and was thinking the same.

On a side note, always feel trying to have a Christmas party in January or Feb must be a weird experience, I know a few firms have done it previously and always questioned how Christmassy they could really be.

@DvB I think your Dickens tag line would certainly apply to the folks at ChristmasFM more than most and they would have no issue getting into the Christmas spirit but I do agree, for the less committed elves, it must at least be strange having the parties after the fact.

I imagine for the most part it’s just a night out with the label “Christmas party”

A friend of mine one had theirs in Feb and they had to wear Christmas jumpers had the turkey and ham dinner, crackers, cheesy tunes the lot. He said they had great craic. Especially in the pub before everyone wondering why they were all wearing Christmas jumpers.

That's the thing, I'd treat it as just a party as opposed to a Christmas party.

I know I'd struggle out of season myself and suspect people of the non Christmas nut variety would find it even harder.

Either way hope they all had a ball, thoroughly deserved.

Wonder if they played the Christmas tunes throughout the night.

Had the office space to myself this afternoon and turned Christmas FM Classical for about 15 minutes, it was nice but I didn't dwell too long on it. Switched over to regular Christmas FM and heard Nat King Cole's Christmas Song which was lovely.

Haven't had a hankering this year so far to listen in to Christmas FM classical, that's my usual go to when looking for some relaxing background music when WFH & feeling stressed. No shortage of stress this year but so far haven't felt the urge. Genuinely cant remember other years how long its been but I suspect given I like to move on & get through Jan & Feb to avoid the post Christmas blues its usually later in the year before I'd start listening again.

NOrmal Christmas music is always kept until Christmas FM goes live, used to be Nov.28th but have started listening in earlier online when the DJ's start on Nov 1st, hope they keep that going now as its kind of established now having started in 2020.

I only found out about Christmas FM Classical a few years ago and only dip in rarely so don't know many of the classics they play, so I don't mind putting it on every now and then. As you say, it's a great outlet for having nice relaxing music on in the background.

There's Christmas FM classics too, all the old crooners, Bing Crosby, Andy Williams, Nat King Cole etc. online as well. Funnily enough have never really listened in to that one previously myself, no idea why as I love all that old stuff.

That overlaps quite a bit with the regular Christmas FM.

Think that's the primary reason I don't listen to it. Once the main Christmas FM starts I don't bother with anything else.

Looking back on photos from the beast from the east and remember Snowday 2018 where ChristmasFM came back for one day only and can't feel that ChristmasFM missed a trick by not having more one off days for smaller charities outside of their charity partners.

We might finally get that linkup with an animal charity. An one off day of online broadcast and use the text number/website to donate. I wonder why they never did that.

Probably too much hassle to set up for just one day.

Be worth it for a good cause tho and I’m sure they would have plenty of volunteers. Listenership might be an issue in march I guess.

Thats what I'd be thinking. It may be deemed as simply not worth it for a limited listenership/return for the chosen charity.

For example, the halloween run & sounds of Ireland run, do they even have a charity partner/donations set up? That started out as a single day thing and now runs for a week (iirc) so may be a good indicator of what they believe could be achieved.

I liked the one day christmas in July day they had in 2020 during covid, as a one off it was great craic (especially as the weather was glorious) but I just have a feeling they may be wary of using up volunteer resources for what could be a very limited return & dare I ask, would it dilute what they do at Christmas if people start to feel its becoming too regular?

Just thoughts. Personally would love to see the odd extra day make an appearance & would happily donate if for a good cause.

I see that the sound of Ireland channel is to be supported online all year round now on top of the 3 Christmas online channels.
