Overall a brilliant day for Irish pro golfers.

Rorys mindset was spot on, even to shot selection on 18th to close out with room to spare, something he might not have done in the past to his cost.Played within himself i thought

Shane played solid especially on the back nine. The two of them seemed to enjoy themselves, great to see.

And great finish by Seamus and Leona Maguire too.

    Overall, an enjoyable weekends golf.

That Lowry birdie putt on 18 was worth over a million dollars. It's mad how cool they are in situations like this or maybe it's not a big deal because they're not struggling for money anyway

    I'd got with B.

If the putt was for the win or a tie, it's a whole different ball game.

Good to see the European lads doing well last couple of weeks.

How does Detry mess this one up?

If he can keep it steady on the front nine he should do it but I'll never trust him until he does it.

And if he gets the win he could go on a tear.

Spieth looks like his old self, he's the danger man I think.

Fantastic back 9 by Detry, finishes with 4 birdies in a row to win by 7. First Belgian to win on pga tour

Great to see that Detry victory, especially with how he played that back nine. Always nice to see someone's first win on the PGA tour, especially when it's a European player.

Hopefully it's upwards and onwards for him from here.

What did Seamus do? Last I seen he was going along steadily at -3, a hole or two later he's at +1. The commentator on Sky just called a wayward tee shot from one of the leaders "Seamus Power territory".

That's the first fairway Rory has hit on his tee shot on the 15th since the 4th hole. And it was fairly wide, in fairness. He's been scrambling a bit today.

That's enough of that. Rory has made a double bogey on 16. It was a tough break in some ways. It wasn't a bad shot on the par 3, but he found the fringe of rough between the bunker and the green. Then chipped out short, gave it a bit of welly for the par putt and missed the return, catching the lip. It was his putter that had been saving him on a few holes today, but not this time.

It was a very odd round for Scheffler and McIlroy. Lots of good done but driving and putting letting them down massively. Tough to pick a winner now which makes for good Sunday watching. Scheffler can't just shoot -3 and let the field fumble and fall away.

That's some start to the final round by McNealy. After parring the opening hole, he's birdied the next 5 and is in a shared of the lead at -8, with Rodgers and Aaberg. Scheffler just a shot behind, but Rory has made no progress, starting with a bogey. He's at -2, and playing with Scheffler.

    McNealy on a rampage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,623 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Haven't watched it for a few holes. But not surprised that McNealy is in the outright lead now. He's the player on fire today. But so is Cantlay, so again not surprised he's in joint 2nd, with Rodgers and McCarthy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,623 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

McNealy moves to -12. That's 9 birdies in 13 holes. The others behind him have a few holes advantage, so they can hunt him down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,623 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

McNealy makes his first error, finds the bunker on the 14th par 3. He makes bogey.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,623 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

I call that lucky from Scheffler. Chipped in from the bunker, to birdie and move to -9(tied 2nd). Had it not gone in, it was travelling with pace and he would have struggled to make par.

McNealy leads by three with three to play. 3 pars should win it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,623 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Åberg has birdied the 13th, moves into outright 2nd(-9). He's got 3 holes more left than McNealy(-11), so you never know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,623 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

That is a horrible ricochet for McNealy with his tee shot on 17. Goes into the spectators, bounces out into long rough on the edge of a bunker. And it'll be a rotten stance for his next shot.

It was horrific, he made about 15 yards on his next shot. And he was lucky to even make that.

Could be a tie at the top in a minute.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,623 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

That's good nerves from McNealy to save par on 17. He was unlucky that he was in that position. McNealy might be leading by 1, but Åberg is breathing down his neck and has the 3 holes more left than Maverick.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,890 ✭✭✭Dr. Bre

    wow Aberg

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,623 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Âberg has gone favourite, moves level with McNealy at the top at -11. And has 3 holes left. McNealy has started to unravel a little towards the end, and needs to make this birdie putt on 18.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,623 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

When you look at that scorecard for McNealy, I said earlier he had birdied 9 of the first 13(no bogeys).

In his last 5 holes, he made bogey and and 4 straight pars. The pressure got to him, along with a little bad luck.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,623 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

That's Cantlay out of the running as he finds water on 18. He had to go for it if he wanted to make a play-off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,623 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Åberg has missed a very makeable birdie putt on 17. Still in his hands to find a birdie on 18 to win it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,890 ✭✭✭Dr. Bre

    great finish by Aberg

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 720 ✭✭✭frisbeeface

Great win. Love watching him play, hopefully that starts off a big year for him

Åberg wins by 1. You have to feel a little sorry for McNealy, the wheels kind of came off towards the end by his exceptional high standards. If he kept going like he did through 13 today, he'd be home and hosed. The players went for it to win, not just those 2.
