I reckon diplomatically he'd be excellent. Plus he knows the rules of engagement unlike our current guy. Probably wouldn't get elected though.

    No.

The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

He can get his house renovated whilst in the park.

Bertie Bassett would make a better president (than Berty [sic] or the incumbent).

Compared to Higgins most would be better and apply some common sense but there has got to be better candidates than Bertie.

I would prefer if we went back to having the British monarch as our head of state.

The minimum bar for president is someone who can pronounce tirty tree correctly.

I'd say his local boozer would be hard pressed to cash his 20k cheque every month for the next seven years.

Oh my God NO. How could the electorate bwould be so stupid as to even consider this man is totally beyond me.

Party politics aside he's not someone I would trust one inch.

JusJust let him retire into obscurity and continue to fool himself into thinking of all the good work he thinks he's done.

Only if you supplied a thick stack of brown paper bags.

    What a question - only in Ireland…

The Park is one thing, but to denigrate his work in the North show you really for what you are

and yet Michael Lowry is kingmaker in the current Dáil….one as corrupt as the other.

    We’re an embarrassment.

He denigrated his own work with all his shady personal dealings.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

If the question is could he do the job well if elected I'd say definitely yes.

On the other hand he'd have to get elected first which would be difficult.

He has the experience and the ability to do a really good job. I think he'd be a massive upgrade on Michael D but I think he smart enough to know that he is not going to win if he runs.

We have the Keyser Soze of Irish Politics Micheál Martin about to become leader of the country again.

The Bould Mickey was up his absolute títs with Bertie and the Boyos in the Galway tent.

It would hardly be a mental notion if Bertie ran and actually won.

Personally hoping for Ryan Tubridy, people will literally melt with rage.

Anyone would be an upgrade on the present embarrassment/encumbant.

Except possibly the man who drove the economy over a cliff and created such misery.

    I’d abolish the office.

We should just sell scratch cards to see who gets to be president for a year. The money would roll in and we'd probably get someone more representative of the average person each year.

A live stream from the residence could be sold to Netflix.

Whatever ye do, keep addressing politicians on a first name basis as if you know them personally, and that they know you.

Depends on what you mean by "Good president". I'd be a good president. It's a largely ceremonial role and you just have to perform a role. The majority of the country would be a good president.

Should Bertie, a guy who ruined the economy of this country and is corrupt as hell be that person? No. Hell no.
