The Bordeaux attack is frightening when it gets going. Sweeping side to side moves while always going forward.

Jesus Christ. That was completely different from the last try in origin. Ultra fast pick and goes from the pack and Ulster couldn't cope. Then the killer blow.

Bordeaux have an all court attacking game.

    Ridiculous.

Turnover looked suspect, but man the speed of that breakout.

Ulster deserved something from this game. For 60 minutes they were dogged in defence and took their chances well.

But a switch flipped for Bordeaux in the final 20 minutes and they player some of the most devastating attacking rugby I've seen in a long time.

Leadership in the pack fell away when Hendo and Izzy went off. Awful final score but some promise there.

Much better than performance in Toulouse but Bordeaux like Toulouse a class apart.

Munster game a must win for Ulster.

Have to agree with the above.

Better performance. We left points out there (think Ward kept hold of the ball a lot when should have past, but promising game).

Still crying out for 1 or 2 brawlers in the tight 5. Perhaps Sheridan will fill out into the role but would love to have someone like Baths tu doit in the scrum

Couldn’t fault the effort, but Ulster just don’t have a squad to be competitive in the Champions Cup. Thought the attendance was fairly sparse for one of the 2 home European games, bigger crowds for bog standard URC matches. Guessing people have other commitments at 3pm on a Saturday and Ulster had no say in the timing.

Timing probably has an influence on attendance, but also people don't want to go watch Ulster get another hiding.

The value proposition of watching isn't there. Poor quality rugby with high ticket prices.

Not sure the new pitch suits the bash it up box kick style UR use most of the time. The French although very cold, loved it.

I had thought of going to this game but ticket for standing in promenade was over £30. Glad I watched in warmth of my front room instead.

Did he get much service and how did he play? Would he have more pace than Stockdale?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,114 ✭✭✭Paul Smeenus

Thought give it was his first Ulster start he did very well. there's an asterisk there, obviously, given his lack of 15s experience, but he has plenty of pace and strength. Also very keen to get involved. he does need to come to terms with relying more on his team-mates but in all honesty, I thought he went very well given the opposition - better certainly than I expected.

Injuries from Sunday include Henderson, Izzy, Timoney, Doak, Kok and Morgan. They'll be monitored during the week. Moore and Carson still injured. Cooney back. We are rapidly running out of wingers. I was reasonably confident against Munster, but we are potentially missing so many.

I'd like to see Ward in the 6N squad. Not the finished article but has shown enough to indicate he's worth investing in and Ireland need more depth at wing. Would like to see Ward hitting the line hard from a flat pass as part of a Goodman strike move.

Seeing rumours that Timoney is going at season end. Assumption would be to France like Cooney.

concrete? or agents playing the market?

Ulster cannot afford for their best players to be leaving

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,912 ✭✭✭Utah_Saint

On Twitter from people allegedly in the know. Could absolutely be agents fishing for a better deal.

Although It would tie in with that new SA back row we are signing from Northampton. He primarily plays 8

Jack Murphy on the bench tomorrow night v Munster!

Did not anticipate that for a Year 1 Academy player who looks relatively physically underdeveloped.

Quite funny that the head coach and his boss' sons are competing for the jersey.

have to make moving to Ulster from Leinster look attractive.

Ulster v Munster, Friday 20 December, 7.35pm, BKT United Rugby Championship, Round 8, Kingspan Stadium (Live on Premier Sports, TG4 and BBC Sounds)

    15. Michael Lowry (112)
    14. Werner Kok (9)
    13. Jude Postlethwaite (19)
    12. Stuart McCloskey (195)
    11. Zac Ward (1)
    10. Aidan Morgan (9)
    9. John Cooney (146)

    1. Andrew Warwick (203)
    2. Rob Herring (243)
    3. Tom O’Toole (114)
    4. Alan O’Connor (C) (202)
    5. Kieran Treadwell (166)
    6. James McNabney (8)
    7. Marcus Rea (53)
    8. David McCann (54)

    Replacements:
    16. John Andrew (126)
    17. Eric O’Sullivan (123)
    18. Scott Wilson (21)
    19. Harry Sheridan (34)
    20. Matty Rea (103)
    21. Dave Shanahan (96)
    22. Jack Murphy (0)
    23. Rory Telfer (1)

That's frustrating. Munster are there for the taking and we're missing Henderson, Izzy, Timoney, Reffell, Doak, Hume, Moore, Stockdale, Carson, Baloucoune and McIlroy. Not sure what crack is with McCormick, Stewart or Humphreys.
