well I just picked the Raiders to win this week so knowing my luck they will lose :D my apologies in advance

well that was an interesting home opener….. god we were awful in the 1st half.

Andy Dalton looked like Tom Brady out there with hardly any pressure all game.

The game was just awful on both sides of the ball, no pressure or penetration from our DLine, missed tackles and blown coverage in the backfield and complete offensive breakdown. Getsy's play calling was horrendous, kept trying to run the ball despite the OLine not creating gaps and Zamir White running straight up the middle. Panthers were missing both safeties yet we only went deep twice, one throw to Tucker eventually resulting in a touchdown. The Panthers showed us how to call a simple offensive game - get the ball out early and the receivers into space and just go! And as for the QB sneak on 4th and 1, I had to cover my eyes, it looked like nobody had practiced it at all, just terrible.

Raiders need a huge response over the next few weeks otherwise this season is a complete write-off and we're looking at bottom place in the West. Maybe we need to spend some of that cap money on improving both the OLine and DLine, particularly with Koonce gone for the season.

Not at all sure how we won that game - i watched the 1st quarter live and it was looking like the Browns were going to stroll through us. Looking at the highlights they probably should have won on that Cooper TD that was called back for holding but neither team looked good. I think we will really struggle to move the ball against the Denver D next week.

Well it all started well until the 101 yd Pick six then we just folded, i didnt expect much against the broncos D but i thought we would keep the scoreboard tight. Its going to be a long year….

I really think you should look to trade your first round from next year for Penix. I think if you did that the pick might be 10 or higher.

Penix is 24, he's going to sit on the bench for maybe three years so I think the Falcons might be interested.

Either that or wait until next year. There's only two outstanding prospects next year. It'll be hard to get a high pick in that draft. The Panthers, Patriots and Jags really suck. You've one more win than any of those might have at season's end.

Arthur Blank is an idiot. He might see your pick as a top five and maybe give you another player like Allgaier.

It really is, Kev. We are mired in Mediocrity.

Raiders are finding new ways to shoot themselves in the foot! Not sure what is going on with that Defense - it was near elite last season but seems to have lost the ability to tackle this season. And as for the Offense, words fail me - between Getsy's conservative calling, a poor OLine and two very average QBs, it is going nowhere fast.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 748 ✭✭✭Kev8360

I think the root of it all is the O-line to be honest - Kolton Miller has had a really poor year so far and you can see the pocket collapsing so fast that neither Minshew or O'Connell has time to step into a throw. I know we need better play from QB but we really do need to upgrade the o-line next year. Powers Johnson looks promising at Center but Tackles and Guards on both sides are underwhelming.

Adams has been traded to the Jets for a conditional 2nd round pick.

All very predictable really especially that he went to the Jets too. Disappointing though its only a third round pick which could become a second round pick but only if he makes certain milestones for the Jets which if he does means they are winning games so at best a not very high second round pick.

its most likely going to be a 3rd (either he is on the Active roster for AFC Championship game/Superbowl or is a 1st/2nd team all-pro) he and the Jets have a lot of ground to make up for that to happen.

I wish him all the best - we are a team that needs to rebuild and getting Draft capital is key. What will be interesting is how this shows up in the team performances for the rest of the season to see if the players back Antonio Pierce or if he loses the dressing room.

I dont mind him going, I dont mind anyone going, its a professional sport and players want to capitalise on what is becoming a shorter career window. He wants a Superbowl ring and I know he has realised that he wont get that in Oakland but 2 things strike me - 1. will he really win one in NY? As bad as the Raiders fanbase can be, the pressure to deliver will be insane in a market like New York. He's played to date for 2 fanbases who are probably more forgiving than the fanbases in places like Philadelphia, Dallas or New York. And his QB friend is not playing for the same team that he left. 2. I think its telling that the only Franchises sniffing around Adams were New Orleans and New York. Not exactly NFL royalty. But it shows the way the market views him.

I don't think the trade is a win for either team - the Jets have more problems than at WR that will break their season and yes we got DAs salary off our books but we were never getting more than a 3rd for him considering age and the trade request coming in. Looking at Amari Cooper trade to Buffalo and Cleveland didn't get much more for him even though he is producing this season (3rd and 7th for Cooper + 6th).

The only really WR needy Super bowl contender was Kansas City and no way that trade was happening.

Mother of God……………that was a hard watch. Apart from Bowers we have very little to be optimistic offensively. QB and OL play was awful. No running game to speak of.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,091 ✭✭✭eire4

Well on the up side the Raiders moved up 2 spots to number 8 on the NFL Tankathon draft list for next season and well with the Chiefs next up it will be 2-6 for the Raiders by this time next week. Being serious there really is nothing to be optimistic about with the Raiders this season. Bottom line for me is until the Raiders get a legit QB there is no reason for optimism and at this point the Raiders might be better off losing as many games as possible and getting as close to number 1 in the draft as possible as this season is done.

I missed the game this week - went to see the game in London and I think it was the right call.

With hindsight Joe Flacco was the better choice of free agent QB this year - I think Aidan OConnell could really benefit from his experience and he would have cost way less than Minshew but saying that the o-line is the root of all our problems.

Until we address that in free agency or draft it wouldnt make a difference if Tom Brady were to suit up again we are not going to win many games.

I only caught the highlights of the game on Sunday but what i got from it was a good defensive showing , Brock Bowers having another strong performance, and our offense again showing why we wont win many games this year not getting any points from 2 trips inside the 5.

We continue to move up the draft order charts to 7th and I am thinking we will be top 3 or 4 drafting this year if we continue with this offensive showing- hard to win games when you average 18 pts/game.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Telesco try to move some players on before the trade deadline to get some trade capital for next year.

At this point really it should be about next year and doing whats best for that. Cinciannati away next week likely another loss so 2-7 and at least 2 of the teams ahead of the Raiders in the draft will win next weekend as they play another 2 ahead in the draft.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 173 ✭✭InsideEdge

Well, the Raiders have their fall-guys so it will be really interesting to see how the team develops over the remainder of the season. I don't see much improvement in the offense given the problems with the OLine, RBs and QB but it would be a positive if we can cut out the turnovers and see a bit more imagination and effort from that side of the ball.

So Gardner Minshew done for the season with a broken collarbone, touch and go for Aiden O'Connell to be back this week - looks like its the Desmond Ridder show vs the Chiefs on Black Friday. Whos our emergency QB? :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,091 ✭✭✭eire4

On the upside the Raiders are up to number 3 in terms of the draft for next season!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 173 ✭✭InsideEdge

Bradley is next in line! Raiders rumoured to have approached Daniel Jones but he turned them down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 865 ✭✭✭Prefab Sprouter

Well Ridder cant be any worse than uncle Rico so lets give him a shot if O'Connell isnt good to go. The Chiefs arent as strong as they have been in seasons past (I know, they will still probably win well) but if the offense can show any kind of life we may stay competitive in the game. I do think we will be picking in the top 3 next draft though, without having to trade up. Whether Crosby will be happy to risk staying with a disjointed franchise and risk his career withering away will be interesting to see.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 748 ✭✭✭Kev8360

Its certainly possible we can win - we just need to keep the chiefs below 19 pts. that seems to be the magic number for us this year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 173 ✭✭InsideEdge

That's the most Raiders way to lose a game that I've seen so far…

up to first in the draft order now after that display. Worrying to see Aidan O’Connell go out injured again. Getting very thin at QB now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,091 ✭✭✭eire4

Not many silver linings but I guess the number 1 pick in the draft would be one.

good to see there is still fight in the team but I think it has cost us the pick of the 2 most likely pro ready QBs in the draft next year.
