RUSH - Test For Echo was released in that year. No Alex Lifeson guitar solos in that.

Just popped in to mention that the utter utter legend Kirsty McColl has a special night tonight on BBC 2.

Did you know that Kirsty decided the sequence of the songs on "The Joshua Tree"?

    I see Eternal were on.

The only eternal I like is The Eternal Idol by Black Sabbath. Tony Martin was their new lead singer on that album.

I’m starting to think Ant and Dec’s backing band are models and not professional musicians.

Having watched quite a few repeats on BBC4, one of my bug bears with the '90s Top of the Pops, and maybe quite a few of the '8os episodes too, was how some act lower down in the Top 40 gets a play and then someone else further up misses out. Also, in the '90s episodes, those "Exclusives" meant less opportunities to play some of the new entries.

Ironically, one of the few country-type songs I have ever liked is this magnificant 'Mississippi', bizarrely by an apparently Dutch group

100% Agree, a bugbear of mine too - there were so many amazing records in the chart in the summer of 1996 that could have got an airing. 😞

In that episode shown at 7pm, there were glorious new entries in the Top 40 from the likes of My Life Story and Nas - instead we got a pointless cover version from Cher, and not-in-the-charts-yet performances from George Michael and Kula Shaker.

So many artists with great records could have been on the show, but as it was back then (and probably still is), the record companies know how to buy their artists’ way onto TV programmes.

Hidden Gems on BBC Two at the moment.

‘Let’s Go Dancing (Ooh, La, La, La)’ by Kool And The Gang - amazing performance and song! 🙂

This Space song isn’t as good as their previous hit ‘Magic Fly’. 😎

As we ranted about last week, there’s no need for this flashback segment, especially with TOTP2 up and running. This is four minutes that could have been given to one of the many new entries in this week’s chart.

Now bring on Rocket From The Crypt! 😁

‘Mary J at the BBC’ at 11.35pm on BBC Two, followed by Spike Lee’s ‘Do The Right Thing’! 🙂

Come for Mary J’s live version of ‘No More Drama’, stay for Public Enemy’s ‘Fight The Power’! 😎

Missed Florence and the machine at the Proms last night. Any idea on the chances of it being repeated sometime?
