Changing the paint colour on Garden Shed

Hi all I want to change the paint colour on a friends garden shed from the existing brown finish to a possible Forest Green, How do I neutralize the old brown colour before applying the new green colour in order to get the proper finish.

I went from brown to blue with Cuprinal "garden shades" paint and coverage was fine.
