Twitter account hacked - cannot change email address

    Hi all

A colleague's Twitter account was hacked the day before yesterday. They want to change their associated email address, but are getting an error saying that it is not possible to change the email address at the moment due to unauthorized access.

Has anybody come across this before? I don't use Twitter, but I had a Google and can't see anything about an email change being blocked after a hack.

    Thank you!

    Hi Dave

Thanks for that. I saw that, but it doesn't seem to address the situation of not being able to change the email. The person can still log into their Twitter account, but not change their email address for some reason. That's what I'm finding odd, because I don't see anything about this happening to anybody else who has been hacked, and I'm wondering has anybody else heard of it.

Twitter is rampant with loads of fake accounts with using a profile photo of yours when they setup new accounts and pretend to be you.

I did think you could see your profile and adjust it for notification . Check the 3 dots below your profile.

Thanks both. Yes, I was wondering was it that somebody else had set up an account in her own name. And she was trying to change the email address on that somehow. Didn’t make sense to me. But anyway, she’s decided to close her Twitter account, so it will forever remain a mystery, and I’m ok with that.

One thing with Twitter as i dont use a photo and email is on another email account and double protection . Any photos they have save and Google Image search can bring up many things and image search very often comes up with a porn star Wow.
