If you move from CS to PS do you get to retain your pension or are you starting from scratch?

    It depends on your situation.

All public servants (including civil servants) that joined from 2013 onwards are on the Single Pensions Scheme (SPS). If you move directly from one public body/dept to another, it will carry with you until you retire. The same entitlements apply.

If you are pre 2013, then you’ll need to discuss this in more detail. Generally you should be kept on the same/similar scheme between public bodies if you move directly.

Different situations apply to those who have a break in service etc.

This is something best discussed with your new potential organisation who should be well briefed on different pension schemes!

You need to Google "Public Sector Transfer Network (PSTN) List of Participants"
